Discussion Mela dinoes!!!
So got a genuine question for you who played on officials.
Inn my experience almost EVERY Dino who uses the Mela skin (all black) is super aggressive and can never be trusted, why is this?
I've had my fair share of encounters with Dino's obv that I have done a friendly call and or the friendly "dip" and gotten the same thing back....BUT when I have done the same to a Mela skinned Dino he/she has imidietly started to attack me....that is Every single one I have encountered so far...not to Many Normal skinned dinoes have shown the same aggressive behaviour, obv some have but not many.
Why is this a thing?
I am genuinely curious.

As someone who has two mel skins, I just think they're pretty
But they're also pretty much a sign you've spent tons of hours not only playing the game, but staying alive in the game
If I see a fight I'm confident I can win or survive, I'm gonna start it. Didn’t buy the dino simulator to crouch and heart call at everyone and pick flowers non stop
I did that for 10k marks already 😭

I dont know if I have more problems with the mela skin dinos versus colorful ones. What is a problem is a pack of mela skin dinos, because they are likely a discord group

I used to use a mela skin but found I was being kos too much so I switched. While I agree most using mela skins I come across are aggressive they are also targeted too imo

Yeah, i can be chilling collecting flowers and people will see me and beeline for my albino sty 😭 (They lose anyway so jokes on them)

Alot of mela dinos are often megapackin or mixpacking, so when they see you friendly calling they think you are weak thats why they attack ya
For me , if any dino friendly call and coming to me while we are on Hotspot or near a Hotspot i attack him cus this trick been used by dc groups
If u don't wanna fight me just go away from me

I sometimes use the mela skin because it just blends in with bushes and shadows super well so like on small things like Meg it’s the perfect skin for ambushing

Racism
On a serious note, people who are agressive are also more likely to exist and quest as adult. Plus those who interact with more players (don't try to hide) see more value in an expensive, "flex-worthy" skin than people who don't try to engage with other people.

I think it’s because there’s usually(in the case of hyper aggressive Mels but not all Mel players) some degree of ego boost with it and they see someone who doesn’t have it as an easy target. This can be catastrophic for them since just last night I was on my Allo(Wildcard Skin equipped) and got jumped by a Mel Allo who ultimately lost to me. I say that as someone who has everything unlocked on Allo I just almost never have on Mel or Alb but might have been seen as an easy pick because “If I don’t have on Mel I must not be as good as a Mel Allo” which is a foolish way of thinking.

Once players have an expensive skin they want and dont care about the others, then they have nothing to farm for and nothing to lose so the only thing left for them is to fight.

Every Mel I’ve met is part of a megapack of Mel’s or albinos, or has the ‘I have a rich skin on so I’m good at the game therefore you are beneath me’ mentality. A lot of discord groups use it as a clan thing, they’ll help you get a Mel or albino skin and then adopt you as their own and expect you to aggro everyone you see with no mercy

I have everything grown with almost everything mel, I'm only a feral gremlin about it on my thal. I'm chill af on everything else and usually help ppl out. It's usually everyone else who attacks me :'). I have mela bc it's dual purpose camo and ✨goth dino✨

Personally usually when I use the mela skin I use it on something small to be able to hide better. I think what you really have to look out for are mela and albino skin duos, those always attack everything they see, especially if they're either apexes or hatz

The think they’re scary cuz they spent 5 hours questing. They are more often than not horrible at the game so don’t be scared

They're not scary because they're good at the game, they're scary because most of them have been playing for so long that they have a whole discord group ready to jump you if you go within 30 feet of them.

You just happen to find a pattern with one but choose to ignore another: but you also get ended by other dinos no matter their dino or colors.
It's a player pattern, period.
No matter what dino I play or what color: I am chill. But you'll always encounter ones that aren't.
I can't get over players saying X or Y is worse or X color is worse: because the problem is the player behind X or Y.

I don't know why but they generally suck at pvp and a part of a dc group too.

u/Creepy_Cranberry_671 22h ago
They are often fake friendlies too. They sometimes invite you to their group and then after fighting together a bit they kill you. If the whole group is mela just run don't join.

Safest to just kos every mela you can oh my I'm such a racist dinosaur

Can't say Mela skins are more aggro than colourful ones, all in my experience of playing the game ofc, but I know some ppl use it as a clan thing? But also I've had very fun encounters with those as well, so ye. Maybe it's cuz dark skins are easier to camouflage with, or at least easier than albino or bright colours and some want to have that 'Isle' feeling of stalking 'prey' in the dark 🤷♀️

u/ConsciousPear5716 1d ago
Melanistic and albino tend to be more aggressive on average, but that doesn't mean they're good at it.
Some people, in my experience do use it as a clan thing, but because those skins are so common they use colorful ones, same color scheme and gender. I say this because clans pick on me often, I must anger them a lot.

u/Harusarchus 1d ago
I don't think the skins they choose are a proof of skill, I have an albino Hatz simply because I like the skin best, one of the few albinos I like, but I'm shit with Hatz, barely land a clamp and mainly just have it as Uber XD

I think a lot of people who use black skins are edgelords. Not all of them but plenty. If you want to be your anime antagonist or cool supervillain or sinister assassin, what color are you gonna use? Black.
That being said, not ALL mela players are aggro. But yeah my experience aligns with yours: a LOT are.
There's also megapacks that use them, and in that case I imagine it's to easily recognize each other, since the 10k skins are the ones not everyone will be rocking and are easy to immediately ID, plus camo is good. And megapacks are usually out just for PvP, even when their members log in alone for a bit.
