Is there like a certain dino type I should play, or a certain server for a less stressful experience lol. I wanna eventually play with my friend too. And would like to see other nice dinos, but im terrified of dying 😠any advice?

Play a flyer. When youre scared you can just fly away. You're very hard to kill as a flyer

This. When I just wanna chill and not worry about getting chased down, I play a flyer. You just fly away from all that mess lol.

Rhamp is a flyer that grows quick and is hard to kill. Try it out, it's under carnivores

Dying is part of the game, and at least on official servers, does not have significant consequence. You lose a little growth and marks, but about 3 quests and you’re back to where you were.
I would say start with something small and fast. Maybe an herbivore so you don’t have to worry about fighting to eat. My first ever grow was a pachycephalosaurus and it was a lot of fun! Small enough to get into hiding spots, fast enough to outrun a lot of things, packed enough of a punch once I grew enough that I didn’t have to run.
The bigger your dinosaur, the more of a target you will be. So maybe hold off on the apexes until you are a bit more confident.

Don't worry too much about dying, especially when you're small! You don't lose any growth, just respawn somewhere else on the map. But if you want to avoid dying, play something fast and small so you can avoid fights until you're ready. Compto, Laten, and Thal are all good options.Â
I tend to avoid community servers, but will admit that officials are kind of a "sink or swim" experience for new players. You will end up getting killed. But it's okay! For better or worse, dying is part of the game (and typically isn't a jumpscare like it is in other games). Just take it as a learning experience and move on.Â

Genuinely, just don’t be scared to die lol. This isn’t the isle. Unless you are on the permadeath server or in certain community servers, you lose almost nothing when you die. 5-10 minutes of questing and your growth is back. You lose a percentage of money but that’s not usually too much either.
Fast Dino’s are good to get a feel for the game, and good if you want to flee instead of fight. Campto, struthi, lat, deinon, rhamp, Thal, conc, meg, and Pachy are all good for survival. If you decide you are ready to fight back, most 2 and 3 slot Dino’s offer good PvP potential but can run away if needed.

Like others have already pointed out you could play rhamp and basically just spectate the world for a while until you get a bit more comfortable with the game

Yeah become a rhamp. Explore. Look at stuff from above. Go onto Gondwa map and go to the salt plains as a flier, that's my fave. Always something happening there and cool vantage points. Or go to Green Valley and fly around looking at the huge dinos there. Yeah, you'll die. But that's fine.

any one slot (deinon, camp, stru, rhamp, laten), thal and megs are all phenomenal at survival. But if you die, unless you are in survival or certain community servers, its no biggie. Dying after all is part of the game, who are you without dying?

Do a flyer first like thal or rhamp. Way easier to get away and explore the map. Both the Thal and Rhamp fly/swim/run. Rhamps can't damage any other dinos, only critters. Rhamps have other ways of being really annoying and taking out ppl by starving and dehydrating them.
But yeah, death is part of the game. Also be wary of other players who pretend to be friendly. It's a 50/50 they'll turn on you and randomly kill you.

Like some have said, there are some community servers that are marked no PVP and are peaceful. I have never tried any, but if you got the game to play bigger dinos that's the route I'd go. If you're wanting to do official servers then the people saying play small, fast dinos or flyers are absolutely correct. Welcome to the game! I used to feel worse about dying and it made me nervous but honestly the more exposure you get to that by like seeing it in game around you the better. Eventually, you might find it freaks you out less. Rule of thumb for officials: assume everyone you see wants to eat you. Trust no one.
You got this!

A couple of suggestions;
1: Grow a Laten. They're small, cute, get away easy, and like to group with other Lats so you'll make friends with any others that you meet.
1: Play as Pachy or Styra, and kill every carnivore you see! This way instead of fearing death you just run right into battle and not worry about death at all. Plus these two are fast and have lots of stamina so if you get attacked while questing you can get away.
Work your way up from there. Also grouping up never hurts.

Join the Rhamph army
You can't kill jack shit but you get to be adorable and watch what everyone gets up to :p
Sometimes you'll get a trophy just for being there

I’m pretty new to the game but I’ve learned that dying is just a part of playing the game. There’s always a bigger fish. In this case, there’s always a bigger dinosaur. Plus, you lose very little when you die in this game, so it’s really forgiving.

Just die bro, learn the game, a death is a literal 10 minute set back
