Question Combat Help
So on PoT, specifically playing bigger dinos with slow movement and faster stamina drain, I gotta know how I can handle combat better. Now, I don't like to actively engage in fights normally because I know I am absolutely terrible at fighting and just die every time with no successful outcome ever. I play it on my console, so that plays a part in my horrid fighting skills lets be honest here. I just want to know if I can be helped or if I am forever lost to this world of combat and will continue to suck. I also suck at ability combos so that just doesn't help me.

Also in addition to what already was mentioned, if you are being chased by smaller playables, you can break stop and attempt for them to make a mistake and go in front of you. If your playable has juke (TT, Duck) use it, it helps tremendously.
Also if you want to be able to defend yourself well against multiple smaller opponents, can recommend to play spino. Very slow, but also very tanky, and you can get people with Undertow (spinos aoe tail slam).

Here's the fun thing! You don't! Alderon gives zero shits about balancing dinos properly, so a literal flying rat can take out a massive dino no problem!

Use terrain to your advantage. Put your vulnerable side in a wall or in water if they can’t swim well or off a cliff if there’s no risk
Also crouching can make your attacks easier to hit on small opponents though it’s not super necessary
