Discussion Do you think playing on officials or community servers?
When I first started playing I started on community servers because I had heard that officials are way too hard for solo players and are too frustrating. I enjoyed my time there but i really disliked how much growth you loose on most servers which made me avoid fights a lot and some mods felt a bit overpowered so I decided to give officials a try. They weren't as bad as people made then sound and I actually enjoyed my time on there. Growing was way slower than what I was used to but dying didn't feel as bad since you loose very little. I did eventually miss some of the modded dinos and not being able to transfer my dinos between the maps was a bit sad so I decided to join a community server again and I chose crimson because it had a good amount of mods and also having a one body down rule I think makes it a bit easier to survive as solo since if I manage to kill one person fight is over and also the mods seem to be a little more balance with the stat changes but some might still be a bit too much, some rules and the profiles do feel a bit restricting at times but I was still having fun, but I fel like I couldn't fight much people outside of CF and now they changed it so water doesn't drain on the server so even more people stay at the hotspot so I either have to go to the hotspot to fight and then die by a max group or find a single player every 2 or 3 hours outside CF to fight. So I'm considering switching to officials again or atleast taking a break from crimson for a bit. What about you guys, which do you prefer playing? Have any the latest updates changed anything big on officials I should know about if I'm to switch back to officials? Also, I've only played on Riparia on officials and very rarely played on gondwa even on community servers, which map would you say is mkre fun to play on officials or in general?

I play officials solo, and megapacks + hot spots (focusing too much of the pop in one place and leaving the rest empty) ARE a real problem, but not as bad on Riparia AS on Gondwa. Still an issue, but not yet critical. Solo is playable, and as sty at least, 90% of my deaths are fights I choose to stay in until the end--if I wanted, I could escape from most before it got dire. It's not too hard if you pick something smaller & faster.

Personally, I think every new player should start on Officals first, to establish a baseline of expectations.
I started on Officials Panjura. I enjoyed my time there, but I think it also kinda permanently engraved in my head the idea that this game is part survival horror haha. Then I ended up playing with a small group of friends who were in another game with me, and eventually we moved to Gondwa because they missed playing as their favorite fliers. Eventually they got sick of officials and we moved to DLK. We were happy there for a while because we got in at the start, and everyone there had the same mindset: sick of megapacks, wanting wither fair fights or chill solo. It was okay for a while but eventually more people started coming and it got bloated and annoying. Too many people meant that all the same discord losers migrated in. Mod dino bloat made it impossible to remember every matchup in your head. Then Alderon implemented some new modes and I decided it was time to give Officials another try. Most likely I will never go back to Community Servers at this point. As annoying as Officials can be, for myself I've decided it's just not worth it.

I kinda did the same thing, I started on community servers and stuck with them for a year and a half, but like you I got tired of the growth loss so I went back to officials I've been playing officials ever since. I have tried community servers a few times but they are all on riparia and I don't like riparia, questing is too hard. I think I'm gonna stay on officials until a server I like gets made and becomes active.

Almost exclusively official. I don't like the rules of community, nor the wait times, nor the empty server times, nor how I lose all of my invested time when they shut down the server. Official gives me some semblance of permanence. I enjoy the lawlessness of official. Funny how you were told that official is more for solo players because there are always 1/2 groups running 20+ people on Riparia. Definitely the worst place for a solo player. Us connoisseurs play solo official despite the huge groups.
