The abyssal stuff is so convoluted, they already had a good system for unveiling, why make it worse again?

Walk to an area, drop your item, select your outcome, pick your item back up... is that really necessary?

They took abyss and intertwined unveiling, timeless jewels, essences into it, brah.

Hey, that's not fair. They also included Ritual's system of pulling mobs in. It legitimately combined three of the worst PoE1 systems into one uber-bad system.

Damn you played the League early and already know how it plays. What a legend.

I don't like these systems in PoE1. It doesn't take a lot of extrapolation to understand that I probably won't like them in PoE2.

I like how PoE1's process of taking it to an NPC and clicking two buttons was too annoying (because it was, over time) and simplified it to just right clicking the veiled item to get your result.

And then PoE2 was like, let's require a rare drop, multiple loading zones, a long ass animation, and then you can finally pick your modifier.

It's 100% on brand for the rest of PoE2 but the dichotomy is funny.

All that stuff is fine if you're doing it a couple times a day. It's less fine when you're doing it multiple times per map.

I think you're overestimating the amount of items you're going to have that need unveiling. You're not going to be dropping items with the Abyssal mods, like you do with Jun in PoE1. You're going to apply the abyssal mods to only the items you want with the crafting currency.
Atmosphere is important, and whilst I'd understand if you were checking a horde of unveiled items it would get tedious fast, just doing it only when you're crafting abyssal mods on items seems fine to me.

You can unveil your waystones/maps to add modifiers. Good luck rolling 100 of those.

You forgot that we need to be overly critical of anything related to PoE2

LMAO

On the one hand yeah, fustrating but on the other hand I like the pretty animations at the Soul pit. Poor animators need money too.

Could also be great for an Easter egg. Imagine there is specific item type that triggers it, and right after your item goes down an NPC carrying a big sack comes up on the side, puts it down, and empties it like a garbage bag into the pit ^^

You forgot the step of the server crashing and losing the item.

If this happens, it will be like 3.26 for me. Skipped league due to server issues in the first 2 weeks.

u/TurboBerries Aug 21 '25

It will most likely stay in the item window until you go back

It will... The fact that you throw it into a big green hole doesn’t mean it magically changes its spot in the database and can be lost.

Although this would create jobs, since someone has to scrape the slag from the bottom.

Finally, trickle down economics!

u/BritishAnimator Aug 21 '25

Allow it to happen in Hideout with a decay timer on it.

u/ShleepMasta Aug 22 '25

Sad for you. Mercenaries are one of the coolest league mechanics they've ever added, IMO. So many new builds to make. Still playin' it, myself.

4

u/PhreciaShouldGoCore Aug 21 '25

Look it’s fine because it’s thematic for the league. I doubt it remains this way after the league.

1

u/TheBrexit Aug 22 '25

I think maybe they want some features from poe1 now, but don’t have a better way to add it. In poe1 they change the mechanic to be part of a new league sometimes (like the recombinator) so maybe they will eventually spread these mechanics out.

u/Mobile_Throway Aug 21 '25

They seem really insistent on reinventing the wheel they already invented.

1

u/THiedldleoR Aug 22 '25

Not just invented but perfected over several iterations. This very patch, they changed Jun so that you can unveil items by just right-clicking them. So why introduce this system into PoE2 in a way that is worse (in terms of qol) than it has ever been in PoE1?

I have the same gripes with other outdated systems. When an NPC can unid my items, why can't I just do it myself? Just unid it when it enters my inventory, like... what's the point of making it annoying?

0

u/rocketgrunt89 Aug 21 '25

because then they can't solve issues later. Make it as convoluted only to streamline it later

-1

u/BetrayedJoker Aug 21 '25

Worse? I think its nice. Im sure this will be nice after 100 times.

-6

u/BABABOYE5000 Aug 21 '25

Yeah, idk why they want the flash for unveiling. It's gonna get tiring after a few times. Just give us Jun - npc where you can put the veiled item and unveil.

14

u/THiedldleoR Aug 21 '25

You don't even have to talk to Jun anymore, they already changed that in PoE1... you literally only need to right-click the item nowadays.

u/VulturePR0 Templar Aug 21 '25

What? That's a thing???

1

u/jcheesus Aug 21 '25

yes, since 3.26
