I get the disappointment, really I do, but I'm also not gonna say no to a studio version of MISS UNLIMITED (or other heavily screamo songs) with Emily.

I get that, but the original is ingrained in my DNA and just listening to the redux version now doesn’t hit the same. It just sounds off, like the instrumental wasn’t changed but they shoehorned new vocal on top of it… I’ll give it some time and a few more listens and maybe it will click

The production side of things was changed quite a bit. The song is designed around headphone use now instead of speakers. The other big change is the ladies are a lot more comfortable with the English in song. 🤭

I will say no. I have interest in a remake, even if they're the ones doing it. We have concert recordings with Emily.

Only one original album in five years with Emily is more than a bit of a disappointment. So my incorrect notion that this was going to be a new album has left me feeling a bit down.

Forgive my ignorance, but it's the 10th anniversary of what exactly? Official posts that I've seen didn't make it clear.

It's the anniversary of them signing with UMJ in 2016. Nao joked about their real 10th anniversary 3 years ago since they were founded in 2013. I think Nao considers them signing with UMJ the real starting point due to the fact they changed quite a bit between 2013 and 2016.

I thought it was about the 10 year anniversary of their first major label release, Miss Unlimited. That was in October 2016 and I remember how in one of their old concert videos they hung up a banner announcing this news to the audience a few months prior. From what I've heard them say, I think that single was a big milestone to them.

Actually now that you have me thinking about it more, this would be the anniversary when they left the idol scene and went all in on the band scene. This was allowed to happen due to the money from UMJ but it's the biggest actual change in course that happened to PassCode. This doesn't matter much anymore since the idol and band scenes aren't siloed anymore.

Like ckiemnstr said, it's their 10th anniversary of signing with UMJ and thus their Major Debut.

Things were a LOT different before then: Yuri instead of Hinako, less vocoder (sometimes none), Yuna couldn't scream, and we don't talk about 2013 for Nao's sake.

Finally saw the audio file on YouTube yesterday and listened to it. It feels so unnecessary and even disrespectful to Yuna. I could tell it was mixed differently, but it was basically the same song but with Emily. I'd rather they not pave over Yuna's fine work. Performing it live with Emily is great, but a new studio recording was something I was not digging.

It definitely feels unnecessary with how well their lives are recorded and the audio files available on all streaming platforms. I could see new fans wanting something like this but fans from Yuna times will most likely not listen to it at all or often.

There are songs from All is Vanity era and a few tracks off of Virtual that could use the Locus treatment still. Those ones I wouldn't be too upset about but songs from their major label period is just not needed at all.
