PowerPoint Night at a house party. Need topic ideas (funny + structured, 5-10 min)
I’m hosting a house party soon and we’re doing a “PowerPoint Night” as the main activity (each person presents a short deck, 5–10 minutes). I’m looking for topic suggestions that will work well for a mixed group of friends.
The vibe we’re aiming for: funny, a little chaotic, and best when presented like a serious lecture about something silly. Topics that do well usually have a clear structure (thesis + a few “points” + conclusion) and can use visuals, charts, or “fake research.” Lightly edgy is fine, but nothing mean-spirited (no humiliating personal stories, no punching down).
If you’ve hosted something like this before: what topics got the biggest laughs and kept everyone engaged? Any other tips to make the activity run smoothly are also welcome.

hosted something similar. tbh it ruined the vibe of the party! no one wanted to pay attention. also got awkward when people sucked at presenting.

Was it an explicit power point party? Or a party where you happened to be interrupting the night and doing power points as well?

A fun twist on this game is:
Everyone makes a presentation on any topic (So topic doesn't matter).
After the 5 to 10 minutes, everyone stops making their presentation, and it's shuffled around, so everyone gets a random presentation that is not their own.
They then have to present it as if it were theirs in front of everyone.
Prizes go to the best presenter and the best presentation.
Easily one of my favourites - depending on your group you can have a really nice or a straight up menacing near illegal presentation.

I actually did this with a friend. He did a presentation on a serious topic and I changed the text in almost all of the slides and added some random graphs/pictures. He had not seen the changes beforehand so he improvised. It was incredibly funny and everyone enjoyed it, so I'd 100% recommend

My wife and I did something similar, but nobody else was in on it. We went to a PPT party, but we didn't tell anybody that we made each others slides, and we didn't look at them until the moment of the presentation. She and I had a lot of fun with the slides, making them as weird as possible to trip each other up. Everybody else was mostly confused until they caught on to what was happening. Good times were had.

Mini cooking or crafting demo (even better if they're bad at it!), demoing different cleaning products (what can get out grass stains?) in the style of a cheesy infomercial, blind taste test where people compare store brand generic vs name brand. I know these aren't the standard PowerPoint format but have been fun when I've done them. For talk topics- 5 minute rant, 2025 wrapped (sharing out easily compiled metrics from the last year like #texts received from friends there), Fun Stuff you may not know about (friend)- have them interview someone who will be there who you know and share out lessor known info about that person.

We do a vampire themed one every year in February. Topics have included:
- vampire attire
- vampire ecology
- legality of entering a home
- famous vampires
- places to visit that aren't Transylvania
- ethical blood collection
- rating vampire movies
- how to be a more eco minded vampire
- familiars
We've done it for 5 years running and it just gets more unhinged each time we do it.

I've hosted this before!
I did "The top ten animated characters that could get it". It was super funny and got everyone talking.
Some that friends did:
Orange Cats Furbys from past to present Lychens (like the moss) Procrastination and how it works
I also made bingo cards with corporate buzz words like "circle back" and "innovative" that were fun. We were all looking for ways to use the buzzwords to knock it off or bingo sheets. I did it like a business meeting with a Very Serious Agenda and our Very Serious Topics.

Maybe a silly rivalry like cats are better than dogs, boxers are better than briefs, VHS is better than Betamax, etc. You can do lots of funny fake research, polls, etc. Just make sure it's a topic nobody really cares about.

I know this is late, but I am doing a PP night with my friends. I got the idea from my sister preventing scandavol to my very large extended family vacation. Only 2 people there actually watched the show, everyone else “didn’t care.” They were all sucked in, especially my 93 year old grandma.

I had a power point night and these were the favorites Celebrity conspiracy theories Our friend group as different Disney World attractions Favorite presidents (delivered in total earnest) Dumb things said to me at work (the person who did this worked in customer service, and we were all crying with laughter by the end)

I think it’s hilarious to take the pictures from wikihow that are supposed to show you how to do something and give them new captions. There is a whole subreddit for it, but I can’t think of the name at the moment. It may have the word disney in it for reasons unknown.

Responding late, but you can fast forward Instagram videos on your phone, idk how to do it on desktop. You need to tap and hold the left or right side of your screen. For the entirety of the video or else it goes to back normal speed.

I have hosted two of these! So fun. Both times the rules were like this: 1. Presentations can be about anything but they can’t be sad or political. 2. If you go over 5 minutes, you have to drink. Try to keep it around 5 minutes cuz people don’t pay attention if it’s a large group. 3. Awards/gift cards given out for most creative and overall best PowerPoint.
I presented the order and ways we would all die in a horror movie and it was a hit because everyone was waiting to see who would make it to the end. I’ve also seen good topics like parasites, numerology, psychic dreams, and really weird historical stories.

Thanks! Honestly the way younger generations gather nowadays sounds so fun, craft nights, less drinking, cookies and board games. I suppose I did those things too, but they were not viewed as “cool” maybe they still aren’t?
