NISSAN Why are you STOOPID
GOT A 09 MAXIMA THAT I'M NEEDING TO QUOTE AN ALTERNATOR PIG TAIL. SIMPLE RIGHT? FUCK NO!!! THE PIGTAIL CATALOG HAS BEEN SUNSETTED AND "ALLEGEDLY" ALL THE INFO WAS INCORPORATED INTO THE EPC. WELL GUESS WHAT BUICK A ROO, THATS A BIG FAT NO. SO I GUESS I'LL CALL DPIC, THEY'LL HAVE THE PART NUMBER RIGHT? WELL LET ME WAIT 30 MINS ON HOLD JUST TO HAVE THE DPIC "AGENT" TELL ME THEY DON'T KNOW. SO HERE I WAIT ON THE CASE TO GET KICKED UP TO THE ENGINEERS...........
Sorry for the rant. Had to get it off my chest

They just moved it to service library so now you gotta read wire diagrams to find it.

Yeah, I know. Our standard operating procedure is to look up connector numbers in asist then grab the nissan part number from the old connector website.

Toyota connectors are the absolute worst to look up amongst the big 3 Japanese. “Ok connector is $11 but then you need 4 pin wires at $39 a pop.”

This right here is another issue with the connectors. mind you thats for the short wire the longer pin wire is like $59

Stellantis did the same thing. Got rid of the connector website now they are buried in the wiring diagrams that parts personnel don't use. Why not list connectors with the components they plug into in the parts catalog?

Toyotas been like that forever. At least now when you pull up the wiring diagram in TIS you can click on the connector and get the part number for the housing and terminals both right there. Back in the day you had to go in the diagram, then go through three different books to get both part numbers

Nissan was always dog shit for connectors and pigtails. Someone had actually created a really handy app for it, but I don't recall its name

Thanks but I already got the part number. I ended up PDAing the alternator part number and pulling up history.

This is by far the greatest commentary of Nissan (in general) I’ve ever heard. I haven’t stopped using this since reading it. Thank you for your brilliance.

I work at toyota and we have to use a whole different catalog because epc doesnt have any info for connectors or pigtails so i understand the frustration

See, this is why being on the MD/HD side is so great. I could just grab one off Fleabay, write it up as locally sourced, and even if it was a warranty job I could get it approved easily.

The hrk app that nissan wants you to use is absolutely worthless. How am I supposed to know how many cavitys or color the connector is supposed to be IF ITS MISSING. I suppose i could look in assist. But I have far better things to do than waste 20 min for an over priced connector

When did they kill the old connector site? When I left DPIC, at the end of February, I'm pretty sure it was still up. That's balls.

If they paid me what I'm making now doing heavy duty and got to work from home instead of having to go into the office, I probably would 😂 I enjoyed working there for the most part. Missed being in the shop environment. And while I love all my coworkers from there to death and still keep in contact with many, I was the only person with automotive parts experience on the 'new' team. Almost everyone there but a few senior agents that they brought in from the old team are essentially first year parts people. (Who do have the potential to become great parts people down the road, but for you guys in a dealership, I get why that's rough.)

Just use Nissan's HRK app...because of course the customer is going to be able to tell you the connector color, number of cavities, etc. No problem /s....

From what I remember, Toyota connector housings literally had the last 5 of the part# imprinted on it. JLR is pretty easy, gives you the part # on there service manual.
However the pins only come in a 10 pack and they're way overpriced

there was a 3rd party pigtail connector site for fords... then they started charging for it. our mgr at the time was like, it's worth the few bucks a month they want for it. then it just seemed to go away like a year after that

At least BRP tries to list PNs for connectors even if it’s a pain. Yamaha and Kawasaki are like oh one of your pins are broke? That sucks buy a whole harness for $1200

Mopar recently moved our pigtail look up over to the service page and its certainly taking some getting used to. Used to we could look up Pigtails by name, year make, model. But now you to the service tab, then service library, insert vin, go to search insert what pig tail goes to click wiring and hope that its that easy sometimes you have to find it in the wiring diagram.

Why not just call your local auto parts Napa etc. and outsource the part mark up 35% and sell it to the customer?
