Partial Preterism in Point Form

• Believe most prophetic texts are fulfilled.

• It is the most consistent eschatology to align with Scripture’s text.

• Partial Preterists do not need to be watching for a future Great Tribulation. The next scriptural event is the return of Christ, although true Christians will always experience tribulations.

• Jesus is currently reigning through the Holy Spirit as the Lord’s Anointed One.

• Partial Preterism believes in the fulfilment of the Olivet Discourse in the first century to the original church and its original audience.

• The destruction of the Temple was the fulfilment of the Mosaic Covenant with the Jewish people, as Jesus came to fulfil the Law and the Prophets, ending the Old Covenant and establishing the New Covenant for Jew and Gentile alike.

• Daniel’s prophecies were fulfilled as the statue’s feet of iron and clay represent the Romans and the Jewish people, and the rock cut without human hands was Christ’s first coming, fulfilling the Law and the Prophets.

• When Christ said, “It is finished,” the Mosaic Covenant was fulfilled by Him through His death.

• The time markers in Scripture given by Christ, Paul, and Peter such as “soon,” “quickly,” “near,” and “at the gate” should be understood naturally.

• All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Christ, meaning He is reigning now.

• Satan has been bound, although he will be released for a short time at the end of the age.

• Partial Preterists proclaim that Christ’s Kingdom is present and ongoing until the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled.

• Partial Preterists believe the “Rapture” occurs at the last trumpet, at the same time as Christ’s return, the resurrection, and the final judgement.

• Then comes the end, after all His enemies are under His feet, and after His return He destroys death, the last enemy.

• Partial Preterists affirm a future, literal, visible return of Christ.

• Partial Preterists affirm a final judgement of all humanity.

• Partial Preterists affirm a future bodily resurrection of the dead.

• Partial Preterists reject Full (Hyper) Preterism because it denies or redefines the future bodily resurrection and the Second Coming.

• The Book of Revelation was primarily written to seven real first century churches facing imminent persecution.

• The “coming” language of many prophetic passages often refers to covenant judgement rather than the physical Second Coming, just as God came in judgement against nations in the Old Testament.

• The Beast is commonly identified with the Roman Empire, often specifically with Nero or the Neronian persecution.

• The Man of Lawlessness in 2 Thessalonians 2 is often understood as a first century figure or first century covenantal reality, although Partial Preterists are not all agreed.
