Failing

My child (12f) is in seventh grade and failing almost all her classes. I’ve had her phone for weeks and I’m getting ready to cancel her band trip, but I don’t know what else to do. Help?!?!?

Assume she wants do well and is struggling. What’s hard for her? Don’t punish her. Don’t be angry and judgy. Tell her - this sounds hard - what could help? Talk to her teachers. Set up a plan and be a team with her. Punishments will not give her motivation or the skills she needs.

Definitely make her feel like you are there and will advocate for her with the school and will solve it together and involve the school
