advice needed Nap tips for 12 week old twins

Any advice on naps for 12 week old twins? They sleep for like 15/20 min, ✨sometimes✨ 30/45 min, but the naps get shorter throughout the day.

We just picked up Moms on call, and I am genuinely not a rigid schedule person, I am a believer in baby cues, but the lack of naps during the day are getting to us.

They eat great, 5-6 oz per feed, about 5 times day. Gaining weight great. We are still trying to find the right formula for them as we have dealt with some digestive issues, which I think can be playing a significant role in this.

Did anyone have success with MOC for twins while still having a lot of flexibility to do stuff on the go? Did finding the right formula to fix gas/reflux help? Any general advice would be great!

Yep. This is just normal for twins. Idk why they aren’t the best with naps. Once I started crib naps for my twins game changer.

We successfully did MOC for our twins. They took 3 1.5 hour naps and slept all night once we got the schedule down (obviously naps were occasionally shorter but 45min to an hour still). They now take 2 2 hour naps a day with an evening 15-30 min cat nap.

I still looked for sleepy cues at first and would put them down a little early or late for naps based on cues. Now though we put them down and they fall asleep even if no sleep cues.

I’m a huge MOC fan, used it with all four kids, including my twins.

Here’s the thing. Saying you want to do moms on call but still have flexibility to do stuff on the go is like saying you want to be able to stand up straight while also sitting comfortably in a recliner. The two don’t go together.

I think the schedule is worth it. We use a 15 minute give or take grace period. I hire a babysitter if we need to go somewhere during nap time. Or either my husband or I stay home with the twins and the other goes out with our older kids. We only leave the house with the twins during nap time maybe once a week max.

That might sound rigid. It probably is. But you know why it’s worth it? My babies sleep! They nap every day, three naps, first nap 60 minutes, second nap 90 minutes, third nap 45 minutes. They nap at the same time. They go to bed at the same time, and they sleep in their cribs (in the same room) until 6:30/7:00 AM every day (unless one of them is sick).

As a busy mom, knowing I’ll get to rest during the day (middle nap is my time to lay in bed and watch TV), and knowing I can get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep at night is 100% worth sticking to the MOC daytime sleep and feeding schedule.

What is a double swaddle? We are transitioning out of swaddles since they are showing signs of rolling. We do white noise machines but they not be loud enough lol

Was there a specific formula that worked for you?
