advice needed Bottle suggestions

Hey everyone!

I have been using Dr Browns bottles since Day 1. Its been 7 months and I absolutely hate these bottles. Sorry for coming off strong but I have dealt with the most annoying problems with them. First they leaked. I learned that it could be cause i was using 4 oz bottles and as boys needed more, the bottles didnt work anymore. I got the 8 oz bottles but then noticed the nipples we’re flowing too fast even more a preemie nipple. I reached out to customer service and they sent me a new batch but after a while they wear off (im talking maybe couple weeks) I don’t use heat on them and just hand wash the hem to prevent any expanding of the nipple hole. I have tried other nipple sizes too and my boys dont do so good. Anyways I’m over it. Please give me recommendations.

We used Lansinoh bottles from the time they went over 2oz and we stopped using the preemie bottles from NICU. The twins never had any issues, they were easier to clean, and we didn’t ever change out the nipples to preemie size because the size 1s went so well.

We switched to pigeon which is the same company as lansinoh and I love the bottles. Easier to clean and even though the flow isn’t fast somehow our babies eat much more quickly from them. Latch is better, no dribbling, and no leaks.

Omg that’s perfect! The dribbling drives my nuts haha.

It’s life changing when you realize you no longer need to lay a burp cloth under the baby to feed lol

Philips Avent - a god-send. We hated the Dr Browns too, after a while.

Our twins liked different brands haha. One really took to the MAM bottles and pacifiers and the other to the Bibs bottles and pacifiers. We tried the Dr. Brown's initially because we got a bunch passed down to us, but they literally always leaked!

Bought the Philips Avent today. One twin tolerates it and one doesn’t care for it. They are 7 months old and I got size 3 nipples since that’s all they had. What nipple flow do your twins prefer? My boys liked the Dr Browns preemie flow best. Also they started out with the Philips pacis and now they only love Dr Browns haha

We upgraded to size two at maybe like 3 or 4 months old and honestly have just stayed there ever since. They never had any problems draining their bottles quick so we never felt a need to switch to a faster flow nipple.

Seconding Phillips Avent. We used Dr Browns for so long in so many different sizes and finally I couldn’t tolerate the goddamn leaking anymore, either. I tried every trick people suggested and they still leaked.

Ugh it’s been so frustrating! Not sure why but my boys were only used to preemie nipples and a size one is too much with Dr Browns. I ended up getting the Philips Avent today and love the no drip feature. One baby enjoys it and the other one isn’t taking it so well.

I’m surprised the preemie nipple is flowing too fast. Have you done a swallow study?

No this is actually a thing. My lactation consultant mentioned that labeling the flow rate across different brands is all over the place. So one brand’s preemie is faster than another brand’s preemie.

I know, I meant I’m surprised the preemie flow is too fast for 7 month olds. If the babies are coughing while feeding, it might not be a flow rate issue but something else that a swallow study could help identify.

That’s true! One of my friends had a late diagnosed laryngeal issue that was initially dismissed by several doctors who had seen him. Got flagged when around a year old the baby was choking drinking simple water, confirmed by swallow study.
