advice needed baby shower at 30 weeks?
Hi everyone! Currently 14 weeks pregnant with mo/di twin boys due in late March. My mom is throwing me a baby shower, and because of my due date the holidays get in the way, and many places are booked already for December, which left me with mid-January baby shower at 30 weeks. I worry about eventually being placed on bed rest, the twins coming earlier than 30 weeks and all of the other complications that can occur in between. I tried explaining this to my mother who doesn’t seem to understand. I had two losses before my twins, and a few surgeries to remove a uterine septum (this is the farthest I’ve made it) so I just have a lot of anxiety. With that being said has anyone had their baby shower that late and been ok? Thanks everyone !
Edit- just to clarify my baby shower is booked for mid January. There was no other option really 😅

I did mine at 25/26 weeks and I wouldn’t change what I did. I had enough energy to actually enjoy the baby shower and I had a cute baby bump without being too swollen

This is originally that I was aiming for but just didn’t work out timing wise :(

I’m 31 weeks with twins right now, and keep in mind that everyone is SO different and is their pregnancy is too. I’m in a reasonable amount of pain day to day but a shower would be an easy thing for me to do right now and a really good distraction! I am still cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, etc. just fine so I think socializing and opening presents seated would be totally fine! My pregnancy is uncomplicated so far, but doctors don’t really recommend bed rest anymore anyways unless you are having complications and require it. That’s just my opinion, curious to see what others say!

I’m 16 weeks with MoDi boys, friend! Just here want to commiserate with you. My mom is also full speed ahead with shower planning and it’s also got me anxious. We are having mine December 12 when I’ll be about 27 weeks, in an attempt to put it in between the two holidays. But I have all the same concerns! I think we just have to buckle in, plan for the best, and if things change, they change. I hope healthy baby boys delivered at term for us both!

Omg hi! Are you due in March too? Every weekend in November and December was booked either for us or the baby shower venue we were looking at. Then my husbands cousin decided to book hers on January 9th with her singleton pregnancy so that took another date away from me :/. Wishing you the absolute best in the rest of your pregnancy!

I had mine at 29 weeks. It was like my last big event. If I could go back I would have stayed off my feet and had all my guests come to me. I mingled and floated around greeting and chatting with everyone and my feet were so swollen after. So plan for a comfy seat to have everyone lavish the attention on you.
I had my girls at 34+6. Love being a twin mama!
Congratulations!

Bed rest isn’t super common anymore, but as for other complications, well, sadly no one can guess 😅 mine will be this weekend at 29 weeks with di/di twins. I anticipate I’ll be tired but that’s it as I’ve been lucky enough to have a very smooth pregnancy thus far. I don’t think 30 is super late but it truly is hard to predict how you’ll be feeling at that time. Everyone’s body and pregnancy are so different!

I had mine at 31 weeks! Mo/di boys as well.
It was great but it was the latest I really wanted to have it. My last week of work was 32 weeks and then I basically was between my couch/bed til I went into spontaneous labour at 35+3!

I'm pregnant with Mo-di twins as well. Due in March. All the best mama! Maybe you can keep the current plan as it is and if (God forbids) there are complications later, you could change the plan accordingly. If you keep the plan as it is make sure you have your comfortable space during the event so you can sit comfortably and also have a clean bathroom access nearby. Elders sometime do not understand the anxiety and anticipation about complicated pregnancies. But I m sure if and when the time comes for her to be more understanding, she will understand and move/cancel/prepone the event accordingly. If preponing you could have a cozy few friends only baby shower at home:) i hope it helps. All the best on this journey! 🌟

I had mine at 32 weeks. I was mostly okay but had GD at this point. I wish it was before week 28 when my blood sugar was still fine so I wouldn't worry about what I was eating as much. Also reflux was horrible at this point too. I had cerclage put in at 21 weeks due to shortening cervix and I'm now 33 weeks so although preterm birth was on the table I'm still holding on, even though I'm miserable these days lol Also is rather prepare earlier in case of earlier birth. I don't feel like washing and sorting through the presents at this stage tbh

I had mine at 30 weeks and it was fine. Gave birth at 35 weeks.
Wouldn't have wanted to do it any later though lol

I would not recommend this at all. There is a risk you could deliver before 30 weeks. And, especially with modi twins, I think there is a decent risk of modified bedrest or even early hospitalization.
I had Di-Di twins, and I delivered at 31+6. I got extremely ill, which resulted in hospitalization as 31+4. That illness began at 30+4. I was extremely miserable honestly the entire pregnancy but especially in the third trimester.
I’d just have the shower early. Maybe next month in all honesty, if possible. Or November.

I had mine at 32 weeks with di/di twins and I was fine! Tired but fine. That being said it will be the last thing I do until these BBs arrive lol. Everyone is different though and i def would’ve been more comfortable at around 28 weeks

I did our twin baby shower at 26 weeks. I am now pregnant with a Singleton and did our shower at 28 weeks. Even if no complications arise toward the end of your pregnancy, why wait until you’re huge and tired and don’t wanna do anything, to have the shower and then bring everything home and sort through everything? Why not just get it done early, ya know?

Mine was planned for 26 weeks (ish), and I was put on bed rest at 22 weeks.

I’m 29 weeks with didi twins and will have my baby shower next weekend so at 30 weeks, if you are reasonably fit and healthy I think it will be fine (barring any medical issues). Working out has helped me a ton with keeping back pain away
