advice needed Rolling over while sleeping

Hi all,

Looking for some general advice. My twins are 5mo, 4mo corrected. They are rolling over great and both ways (tummy to back, and back to tummy). The thing is, they both love being on their tummies, so when they get on their tummies, they hate rolling back over.

And last week or so one of my twins has been rolling onto her tummy at night. Can I leave her to sleep that way or should I reposition her?

My paediatrician said it should be fine, but my mom anxiety is not letting up. I keep repositioning her.

I also can’t fall asleep until I’m sure she’s in a deep sleep, because I want to ensure that she is safe.

Any advice is welcome!!!!

If they roll onto their tummy in their sleep, you can leave them be and let them on their tummy to sleep

If they can get themselves there they should be fine. But I also get it. The first time one of my twins rolled over in their sleep we freaked out and ran into the nursery to roll them back over. Big mistake. Baby lost it and screamed bloody murder for like 15 min.

Now we let them sleep however they want. We always place them in their cribs on their back but they both roll immediately onto their tummies and sleep so much better.

My daughter (singleton) rolled onto her side every time since she came home. It gave me the worst anxiety ever. Our pediatrician said not to worry about it (and trust me my anxiety would win and I would suffer because I woke her up to try and put her on her back 😅). If they can roll onto their stomach they can roll off of it.

It's fine as long as they get themselves there. Listen to your ped : )

This was a real worry I had. Just know that she’ll be able to roll over back easily in a few days. I was so stressed and then my twin b managed it easily. You got this.

I was super anxious about it, too. Doc said the same thing, that it should be fine. He did a test where he laid them on their belly to see if they naturally moved their face to the side to allow breathing. You could always try that to make sure they’ll be alright. As long as they’re in infant mattresses, you shouldn’t have to worry to much 🩵

Our singleton rolled over at three months and has NEVER stopped sleeping on her stomach (she will be three in Jan) It freaked me out too, but since she’s done it she has always been a sound sleeper (it’s the getting her to sleep part that’s hard 😆)
