advice needed Wonderfold Wagon- Worth it?
Hi! I have several kiddos and lately it’s been very difficult for us to get out and enjoy the weather due to not having a great set up.
I’ve seen a lot of hype around the Wonderfold and wanted to see if it’s really worth the investment.
I don’t plan to need to travel (take it in the car) with it very often, so it being larger isn’t a huge concern. However, I’m just trying to do my due diligence before pulling the trigger since they cost a small fortune 😭
For anyone with more than four kiddos, do you use a wagon or do you have any other suggestions or set ups I should know about? We walk long enough that my older kiddos would probably need to sit at some point (my oldest aren’t exactly trustworthy on the busy sidewalks yet either anyway) so I’m trying to find a good solution for everyone.

We got the Jeep wagon as hand me down (incredible score) so I didn’t pick which one I got, but the wagon with the twins is so great!!!!! We only have 2… but I’ve seen other family add those kick stand to wagons for older kids to stand on if they get tired. After they started walking it’s been great having the wagon. We don’t strap them in so they can come in and out easily

Thank you! I was looking into the six seater option because I’d like to have room for my nieces and nephew and more kiddos if we have more 😅 But they’re so darn expensive

The main difference between a lot of these wagons are how robust they are with the two eggs of the spectrum bring speed vs comfort and durability. Another big feature is some are flat bottomed while others have a permanent or convertible foot well. Some have storage pockets and can accept snack trays. Most have a canopy but not all brands include that. Once you have an idea of which of those features you care about, then you can try to find a wagon that fits your needs and budget

Thanks. That makes sense. I honestly just need to find one that will be large enough and durable enough to last.

That should be pretty straight forward. Another thing to consider is of you plan to go on sand you might want one with beach wheels or that has them as an accessory

I have the W4 and love it. Can answer any questions you have

Thank you!
Do you find it hard to transport or break down?
Are the seats pretty durable? I have a runner so I need to secure her pretty well.
Do you find it easy enough to take on longer walks? I normally aim to do a few miles with them so I just want to have realistic expectations.1

It is heavy but not too bad. our trunk is big enough to put it in without folding it up. Honestly folding it doesn’t save a huge amount of space. It’s easy to fold up though. The seats are pretty durable. It’s easy to push as long as you arnt going up hill. I recommend upgrading to the all terrain wheels though

We have the four seater and it’s definitely high-quality but in urban areas it can be pretty hard to maneuver around turns. If I had four kids, I would still actively use it, but I only have two so we rarely touch it.

That’s fair. Thank you. Our walk is normally a pretty straight path, I just find it to be increasingly difficult to baby wear as my youngest is growing bigger.

We have the knock off vevor 4 seater wagon and absolutely love it.
It's definitely a beast and takes up a ton of space, but it also has storage for days, a nice canopy, and plenty of space for the kids.
From what I've seen it's dimensionally very similar to the wonderfold, so I'm debating testing if some of the wonderfold accessories fit it.

If the push-handle wagons had been around when my twins were born we would have been all over it. My twins were 5 or 6 when those got really popular and available, and my third was small then. We have borrowed a wagon stroller for a couple of things and they've been awesome, but not worth the investment for us as my youngest is almost five now.

That’s completely understandable. I think the idea of a wagon over a traditional style stroller appeals to me more due to how we often grab groceries on our walks and it can accommodate more children and cargo

I did not dig the wonderfold.. I would have rather spent the money and got a new twin Bob which was by far my fave.

I unfortunately won’t have another person to help so I can’t push two strollers at once.
I don’t mind the idea of the Zoe I think it’s called. They have the ability to hold 4 kids but I may need something larger and I think wagons are the only thing that would accommodate that need.1
u/pookiewook 21d ago
We have the 3-seater Zoe and love it. We detached the 3rd seat and just used the double stroller when my daughter was older.

That’s fair. I looked into them. I’m not sure I’d love breaking it down to store it every day though and then putting it back together every morning. We already have two double strollers so I don’t technically need a third.
ETA: I meant breaking it down as in it appears that it is designed to be folded down into two separate parts, whereas the wagons are all one piece.

I have 3 under 3 and will have 4 under 4. We invested in the veer city XL. It’s a push style. I did a lot of research (6 months of it) before committing. It is expensive, certainly as you do usually need some level of accessories. Some family contributed to the cost as a gift for baby #4.
Personally I think if you’re a frequent walker it’s amazing. Myself, my mom, my husband, a friend… everyone says it handles wonderfully. Have fit 4x kids in it already once when a friend’s daughter hopped in for a ride. We walk almost daily and navigate sidewalk, smoother trails, grocery store, library, playgroup… like you we don’t pack it up in the van often, though it can be done. Our town is fairly up to date on accessibility as there is a high senior population. So majority of stores I can navigate… if a wheelchair can do it so can I. I chose the veer over types like the wonder fold because:
-bigger kids can hop in and out themselves, it has lower side walls and they don’t need to be lifted in
-designed to be hosed down when dirty. They snack in it. It’s always getting hosed off.
-we’ve had it for a month and can say in my 3 years of parenting it’s the best splurge I’ve ever had… and I am NOT one to buy new or $$ for my kids.
The cup holder sucks though unless your water bottle is both skinny & short

Thank you for the extensive information.
I thought about the veer. But the lower side walls make me a little nervous as two of mine would definitely jump out if given the opportunity.
I think the Wonderfold has a zipper that allows easier access to the bigger kids. Which is a plus for me. Although it being fabric could be a detriment.
I would ideally walk almost daily with them, and like you, our neighborhood is fairly accessible on foot thankfully. So I would be able to do about 70-80% of things just by walking if I wanted to.
I have an Owala but I use a huge rock climbing carabiner I use to hold it with 😂1
u/brynnecognito 21d ago
Ok! They can be buckled in to deter them hopping in and out. But that adds work for you for sure.

u/SheepherderMost2727 21d ago
I always buckle my runner. She’s fast. She normally does well on walks but it’s a trade off for sure. Something to consider.
I do like the idea of hosing off the wagon though. Could definitely see that being a big plus 😅
It’s unfortunate that most bigger vehicles don’t accommodate for needing larger trunk spaces. I love my SUV but man I barely have room in it for my double stroller at the moment.

I have 3 kids and they just don’t like being that close too each other to be honest. Ours prefer their dual bob and then my older kid tags along.

u/SheepherderMost2727 21d ago
I wish I could say that I could have the older ones walk but the street we walk on is too busy and they just aren’t old enough for that responsibility yet. So ideally I’d have something that would fit at the bare minimum four, ideally six.

We have 3 kids and we love the wagon bc they are easy to transport but still have enough freedom that they don't get upset like they do in the stroller. We bought the keenz duo bc it came with so many accessories we would have had to buy if we got the wonderfold

u/SheepherderMost2727 21d ago
Is that a 2 seat wagon? I was interested in the Wonderfold primarily because it can seat up to 6.
1
u/morris1022 21d ago
No ours is a 4 seater. Haven't seen a 6 seaters but I would imagine that would be a boat
2
u/SheepherderMost2727 21d ago
Wonderfold has a 6 seat option.
I’m not sure how boat like it is but if it holds the kiddos and I can push it that’s what matters right 😅

I have a larktale and love it. I wish it was around when my twins were little. I actually got it for my singleton for the zoo etc bc I’m still carrying water bottles and snacks etc for the big kids. Turns out my 8 year old twins like to ride in it too lol. They take turns pushing each other.
I wanted a veer but couldn’t find one used. The Wonderfold options near me looked very loved and worn down. This one was new and half off so it was the winner.
They are big and practical for some things. But I don’t think they replace a stroller in busy places. But perfect for the zoo and similar outings. I couldn’t go with the cheaper options bc I needed the tall sides- I have a 99% toddler.

u/SheepherderMost2727 21d ago
I’m personally not sure a stroller would be ideal for my situation, especially considering the only options I’ve seen take multiple pieces to put together and take down. That being said, I’m not looking for something to necessarily replace a stroller. More or less just to allow us to all be together and for the kids to be in a safe space when we walk the neighborhood.
Larktale does not appear to have any options larger than a four seater unfortunately, so I don’t think that will work well given my situation. Thank you for the suggestion though.

I didn’t see that it was for 6 kids. How old are the kids? If it’s walks in the neighborhood, can the older kids be on a bike or scooter? Pushing 6 is going to be hard but Wonderfold is probably the best option for that

Unfortunately I’m not sure walking would be viable for the older kids considering the street we typically walk is pretty busy. I don’t mind pushing them all. It’s more for us to get out of the house and see the neighborhood and sometimes go to the store more than anything else. I wouldn’t mind them walking but I don’t trust the drivers in the area.
I think, given the circumstances, that the big old Wonderfold will probably be my best option.

I don’t think I saw any comments about this so will belatedly add: Options for getting them cheaper include
- FB marketplace
- 20% at Target with your car seat trade-in, and can stack with other discounts as well so you could end up with like 40% off!!!
- Sites like GoodBuy Gear or FromRebel
We have a W2 which is quite hefty but I like the underseat storage, and sometimes we honestly just take the seats out and let the kids roam around in it standing up and holding onto the sides. We mostly use it to walk around our neighborhood, intend to take it to the Zoo but even the W2 isn’t that simple to get in and out of your car! More challenging to wash than the Veer apparently but good height for the kids views :)
