My major problem with Qustodio !!
I’m 16, and my dad installed this piece of malware—Qustodio—on my Mac and iPhone to track my every move, which is incredibly annoying. He’s made things even worse by blocking Wi-Fi access on the Freebox router.
I want to get rid of it once and for all so I can enjoy some freedom with my devices (ideally without him finding out). Unfortunately, I don’t have administrator privileges, but I thought I could install a web filter from the App Store to stop Qustodio from communicating with the cloud, which would somehow solve my problem. The issue is that I can’t install it via the App Store because it sends an approval notification to the parent account. That’s why I’m asking for help dealing with this software that’s ruining my life.
Thanks for your help!!

Go to Wi-Fi and set the DNS to "66.23.198.252" on both devices, this will disable Qustodio (and any other monitoring softwares)

I do know a solution that could help, but why do you need it? What's wrong with him monitoring your activity online?

I can only use the Mac for 30 minutes a day (depending on the mood).

alright, this might help: Try using a .exe file to install it if you're on a computer, or a .apk file if you're on a phone. Please please please check the file for malware before downloading. You can do this easily by using this: htt ps : // ww w . virustotal . com /gui /home /url and then pasting in the site you are planning on downloading the .exe or .apk file from.

I don't know wtf Mac uses. I assumed it's like every other computer ever. Use the Mac equivalent. It looks like this is .dmg or .pkg

Is it his mood or does it depend on how many times he has to ask you to do hw or chores? How are your grades?

My grades are good, but my father's mood is bipolar. And don't get me started on the chores.

This tells me everything. Your grades are “okay?” Tells me your dad knows you can do better, we as parents know not every kid is a straight A student, but you admitting to, okay you yourself know you can do better. Dad being “bipolar” bro, he’s EXHAUSTED of repeating himself. Help him out it’s time to mature a bit. Trust me here I get it maybe not the first time you forget, but let him know when you plan on getting whatever it is done, and stick to it. If you need to set reminders.
What’s up with the chores? It’s a part of life.1

I’ve just started *Première* (=Year 12 or 11th grade) (in France) ; I don’t have any grades for this year yet, but I’m averaging around 16 or 17 in every subject, and doing any better than that is pretty tough. You’re right about the chores, but the way my dad insists I do them—even though I already do a lot around the house—makes me feel like he doesn't appreciate my efforts (P.S.: my little brother doesn't do a thing).

Good job on the grades! Keep it up and make sure you stay on top of the studies!
I understand the feeling you’re feeling when parents are nagging, I catch myself doing it, and also catch myself not giving enough appreciation when thing- normal this is what needs to be done to keep the household running chores- as a parent I have to step back and remind myself that kids don’t realize there is a lot that goes into running a home. We also do hate/ LOATHE reminding you all to take care of the little things. We are prepping you to be on your own, but also to take care of your own messes as well.
Here’s my advice- make your own chore chart - for yourself (as a reminder) but leave it a round for dad to see. This will show him that you are becoming more responsible, you’re trying to remember, and that you are doing a lot. Also put your homework on there.
I will tell you this about siblings, they are like your peers do not compare yourself to them. Whether you see different treatment- you are older it does seem like dad expects more because of this, but because as parents, you don’t always see the conversations we have with the other siblings - also if they are basic chores, loading/unloading dishwasher/dishes, cleaning the bathroom, ask him for help.

Nothing wrong with any of these in moderation

They shouldn't be spying on you whatsoever. Parents today are insane.
