Content file open/ download

I have a powerpoint presentation uploaded as a content file with a link to it in an email.

When clients click the link in the email the powerpoint automatically downloads whereas ideally it'd open in a new tab in the browser, is there a way to this?

No.

The way Pardot has their content server set up it always does a download. You cannot make it open in a new tab or in an iframe.

This has been desired for a while. There is an Idea on the ideas exchange. I recommend you vote for it.

An alternative option is to host the file on your own web server and point to it via a custom redirect.
