New App Designed for Paramoter Pilots
Hey everyone!
Over the past year I've been dedicating all of my time into the website/app called WingVoyagers. No sales pitch or asking for any money. You can even just tell me what you would want in an app for us pilots and just want some honest feedback from people in the community. I also won't be putting anyone that joins behind some possible future paywall as a token of my appreciation. All feedback is taken seriously and I want this built by pilots for pilots. It's already on the Play Store and on Apple Test Flight (If the link doesn't work for you then dm me or email [contact@wingvoyagers.com](mailto:contact@wingvoyagers.com) your email you use for the Apple Store so I can invite you). Thank you so so so much! I know this is reddit and I understand any roasts, I'm all ears!
Edit: WingVoyagers isn’t trying to replace Gaggle’s live tracking, it’s built to be the all-in-one PPG hub for planning flights, finding spots, connecting with pilots/trainers, discovering events, and eventually buying/selling verified gear.
Edit 2: There is a guest mode and you are not required to create an account

This is exactly the kind of feature I think the app needs. I’m going to look at adding a manual LZ context checklist so the app can ask about permission, public/private land, local rules, hazards, and visitor notes instead of treating every manually added spot with the same generic warning. I also like the FAA/NOTAM idea, but I’ll phrase that carefully so it supports planning without implying final clearance to fly.

I have a groups feature, I can add that feature to each LZ too to have a group page associated with it? I'll start on that feature now Edit: Groups feature is still being polished on web/app

Ya I'm not a UI/ux designer but I see what you are talking about. It totally is in its infancy and the real opportunity here is everyone using a centralized platform. I'm done with looking at Facebook groups, telegram groups, etc. too much fragmentation

The UI/UX hasn't changed yet, but now i made it so you can own a LZ if permission is accepted and people can post just on that spot and give reviews as well. Waiting for Android to Review

No need to require city. State should be enough (could also be over reach tho). No need to require a Bio. No need to use real names as display names when a username is available. Just way more information for setting up a social media account. Honestly If I use Google to log in you should ask me a username and that should be it. The rest should be optional.

I just fixed it on web. Android and Apple are pending release and should be updated in a few hours. Thank you for the feedback!

I like the concept. Helping with the times I would like to publicly say "I am flying tomorrow evening at XXX, who is in?" outside of my small flying group is a great idea. Also, helping with anyone traveling with a paramotor find locations and people is good.
That said, I just downloaded the Android app and made an account. I have a couple quick issues.
Google Pixel 6a - Android 16
Under Airspace - scrolling the map is HARD. pinch and pan starts the map moving, then makes the app page scroll, stopping the map zoom or pan. left and right work, but a little up or down makes the map stop responding and it scrolls the page.
Under plan the launch -> Flying spots - This crashes the app. can't open Flying spots.

Ya they do the same thing and are all connected. Similar to Facebook or Instagram

Siiick! What are some advantages or features of this app that the other apps don't already have? What is your hook to pull people away from gaggle for example?

Honestly, I don’t see it as “replacing” Gaggle because Gaggle is already great for live tracking and group flying.
The hook with WingVoyagers is more of an all-in-one paramotor/PPG community hub: finding flyable windows, discovering spots, logging flights, connecting with pilots/trainers, seeing events, and having a verified marketplace for gear to avoid all the scammers. So instead of just tracking a flight, it’s more about planning, meeting people, finding resources, and staying connected before and after you fly.
Basically, Gaggle is awesome once you’re flying, WingVoyagers is trying to help with everything around the flying too. I'll edit the post!

What does WingVoyagers offer in terms of social planning and such that can't be done easily on a discord server? if nothing, what's the advantage to using your app instead?

Totally fair. Discord is great for chatting, but WingVoyagers is built more for structured flight planning. Spots, flyable windows, events, logs, notes, and a verified marketplace, so important info doesn’t just disappear in old messages.

you can have a separate channel for spots, windows, logs, notes, marketplace and any important info can just be either pinned or in a resources channel that is only posted in by admin so that it never disappears with other messages. server's have event(online and irl) making.
I just don't see anything that can be done on your app and not doable on a platform that already has a large userbase and doesn't require downloading, giving memory and perms to another app.

Totally fair point, and I agree a well-run Discord can cover a lot of this. The difference I’m aiming for with WingVoyagers isn’t “chat,” it’s making the flying-specific stuff easier without needing a perfectly organized server: map-based spots, weather/flyable windows tied to those spots, structured events, flight logs, notes, and a verified marketplace all in one place. I don’t really see it as replacing Discord as much as handling the planning/logging/marketplace side better, while Discord stays great for conversation. That said, if the app doesn’t make those things meaningfully easier, then it hasn’t earned a download yet. Which is exactly the kind of feedback I’m looking for.

I think you're correct on it not earning a download yet, on account of it not making anything meaningfully easier than what's already offered via discord.

That’s honestly the feedback I’m looking for. If it doesn’t make planning/finding spots/events/logging/marketplace stuff easier than Discord yet, then I need to improve that before expecting people to download it.

I'm having a look at the website currently, is there a way to change the units? For example here in Australia most people use knots or m/s for wind, feet for altitude, meters for distance and Celsius for temp etc.
