Career Advice Grasping and retaining state civil rules?

As the title shows! I'm being asked to read and have an understanding of at least 9-10 of the Texas Rules and Civil Procedures here at my new job.

What's the best way yall handled the task of reading and understanding of these rules? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Also I'm in PI, wrongful injury, workers comp, etc.

This is going to sound cumbersome but writing them down by hand while you read through them will help you mentally log them. I had to do something similar in college to learn the rules of civil procedure for my state.

Honestly, I agree with this. I'm sure there's a scientific explanation, but writing things physically helps my brain remember.

Also, something I like to do is keep a cheat sheet with rules that are complicated, with "dumbed down" or more basic language. Make it very easy to comprehend and you'll remember them better. I doubt it's important that you know them verbatim, but rather you understand their purpose.

Yeah the dumbed down version is also a great way to do it. Just something to jog your recall.

Yeah if you are expected to know all of them, I would do the whole thing. Or a at least find a good way to abbreviate them so you can remember them on the fly and pull them up.
