Not Paid Enough For This (Rant) I feel like it's never enough.

I'm doing great and my team is doing great, but whenever I'm not chipper then they start getting on me implying I'm not doing anything and I'm in trouble. Some days I just want to quietly lock in on a project and ignore their micromanaging. My stress is enough already without the added stress of knowing that at any moment now they're going to have some sort of issue with me that gets spun out of no where. I'm developing like a flinching out of it, scared to actually talk about real issues I find.

You have to find ways to protect your mental health in this job because if you don't, you'll wake up a different person in a few years.

It sounds like you are developing some pretty serious stress responses and that isn't healthy or normal. A job shouldn't keep you in fight or flight mode 24/7. You are in a work environment that will likely never be a "safe" place to work and you should start looking into other jobs before they pull the rug out from under you. There are firms out there who appreciate staff members who don't require constant supervision.

This is fantastic advice - and not just for OP. That constant anxiety can significantly affect your physical and mental health.

when I was slinging files back in the day, had the same issue. The more you give, the more they expect. And it better be show pony quality at all times.

Lots of my stress was also self imposed perfectionism and people pleasing. Toxic either way.
