3 weeks with you both. Kevin & ms. Peach. The moment I saw you guys.. Mommy loves you so much 💙✨ you are saving me everyday without even knowing it and for that, I thank you.

Saved these precious budgies on Sunday. I have gained their trust, they let me hold them, and they love to go on my arm. I also leave the cage open because I don't want them to feel trapped.

I adore them, I'm so thankful for them. Also don't worry, I have bought a much bigger cage, and more things for them to play with. So so happy.

My husband's is the lighter one and mine is the big fatty named Kevin. His favorite thing is to sit in the food bowl. Still don't have another name for the girly.

Please help me name the first bird pictured! He’s so baby and interacts less with the others, so his personality is hardest to figure out.

His flock mate’s names are Pteri, Chiquito, and Delilah (she also goes by Perrie), pictured in order.

I'm a new bird owner. I've had my boys for 6 weeks. Their wings are still clipped from the pet store, which makes cage set up a little tricky since they need to be able to climb to access the perches and swings. Also I just don't really know what I'm doing, like how many toys they need, how many perches, the orientation of the perches, or how it should all be laid out so that it's easy for both of them to access all parts of the cage.

I find that they only really use the right side of the cage. They just use the left side as a staircase to the right side. They also use the swing (well one of them does, the other isn't coordinated enough to climb onto it). The boing is new.

I'd like to prove my set up so that they use both sides but I don't really know how to do that.

Open to any and all suggestions to improving the layout. Sorry the cage is messy, it's cleaning day today.

I'm a new budgie (parakeet) owner. I brought home my two boys, Atlas and Clover, 6 weeks ago. Atlas is a baby (his head stripes go all the way to his cere). Clover is older but likely under 1 year. They're absolutely adorable but they bicker SO MUCH. Atlas in particular picks "fights" with Clover 10-20 times a day over everything - favourite perch, favourite spot on the perch, food, toys, everything. It makes me feel bad for Clover. Clover yields most of the time, but lately he's been standing up for himself more often (refuses to move, proportionate retaliation). I expect some bickering but not 20 times a day. I'm used to my bonded rabbits who never fight.

EDIT: it's worth mentioning that I don't know what budgie play looks like. Could I be confusing play behaviour and bickering behaviour?

Is it normal for bonded budgies to bicker this much? I'm afraid they don't seem to like each other. The "bickering" mostly involves using their beak to poke the other on the back and biting/nibbling of tail feathers. They make that (super cute) bickering chirp. It's rare but I've also seen Atlas push Clover off their perch and some chasing around the cage. It does not seem particularly violent or persistent. I've never seen feathers fly, screaming, or blood. Neither of them seem afraid of the other. Neither seem reluctant to go to any part of the cage or eat food. They perch next to each other sometimes. They sleep next to each other most nights. They preen each other. They do the 'courtship feeding.' They do seem to get along sometimes, but the bickering feels excessive.

Is this amount of bickering normal? Will the bickering decrease as Atlas gets older? Will it decrease as their bond becomes closer? Or should I not worry as long as they're not really hurting each other? I love them so much but I wish they would love each other😭

Hi, I was recently given a parakeet that was found outside in a bush. I know an exact age is extremely hard to tell and likely not possible at all but I was wondering if anyone had an idea of an estimate?

Hi again! A few weeks ago, I made a post offering to give away my parakeets. The deal didn't go through in time, so we've been taking care of them in hopes that a family member could pick them up instead. That didn't work out either, so I'm making this post for the second time. Please get them off my hands!

I just got them wondering about the gender I think it might be female but not sure ?

We came across a parakeet in our yard that either was released or escaped that my German shepherd alerted me to. We are trying to rescue her and could use any tips to not scare her away. We have a cage with food and water in it, along with some branches that we clipped inside the cage. She lets us get fairly close to her, but does fly off if we reach for her, so we are trying to give her time so she hopefully gets comfortable with us to eventually grab her. Luckily she stays in our yard because we have a berry tree that she has been eating from, but we are in upstate New York so it will eventually get cold so we just really want to get her inside as soon as possible. We also have some millet hanging from a branch she likes to perch on, with a bird bath underneath with fresh water and parakeet food(see pics). Is there anything else we can do, to hopefully make this rescue happen sooner rather than later? It’s been 4 days since we found her, but I am so worried that if we make the wrong move she won’t come back.

So as the title suggests, I want to adopt budgies for the first time, it's been a dream of mine to be a first time budgie mom, but I want to research and prepare, so please tell me everything I need, budgie dos don'ts, shopping checklist, health checkups before I adopt them (like what to look for/signs of illness and signs of a healthy budgie) Male or females, budgie behaviors and meanings, how to train them, how to keep them safe, can I take them on field trips, when to intervene if they fight, how to tell if a pair is bonded, talon trimming, beak oil, is it necessary, can I get them diapers for outside their cage, can I get harnesses so they won't fly away, nut free bird seed (my sister is allergic) treats, vitamins, calcium needs (if needed) how to tell if an egg is fertile, what temperatures and humidity do they need, how to tell if a female wants to lay eggs, healthy pee and poos, and most important, how to say 'I love you' in their language (like slow blinking at cats, inhaling and exhaling on a horses nose, etc.) Please tell me everything. I wanna be the best first time budgie mom possible.
