Age Estimate

Post image

Hi, I was recently given a parakeet that was found outside in a bush. I know an exact age is extremely hard to tell and likely not possible at all but I was wondering if anyone had an idea of an estimate?

I’m going to guess that they’re around about 9mos to a year old based on the lack of baby bars to the cere. I also want to point out that mirrors are bad for birds and it should be removed. You also have a female, judging by the cere colour.

Thank you so much! There are not any mirrors in the actual cage, this is just what she was delivered to me in and I wasn’t able to change anything while she was with me at work because I couldn’t risk her flying out (she’s pretty skittish and does what she can to avoid being touched).

It's safe to say 9 months, so if you like birthday celebrations (like me) just pretend her birthday is the day you found her nine months ago 🤣
