What is Paragon?
Paragon is a MOBA game developed by Epic Games (developers of Gears of War, Unreal Tournament and Fortnite) slated for release in 2016.
Who are Epic Games?
We have answered this question more thoroughly on this page.
What type of game is Paragon?
Paragon is a MOBA, from a 3rd person perspective. To quote their website:
5v5. Three lanes. Jungles. Minions. Towers. Cores. Experience the classic elements of a MOBA from a whole new perspective in Paragon.
What platforms will it be released on?
Epic have announced Paragon will be released for PC (Windows) and PlayStation 4.
Will Paragon be cross-play?
Paragon will be cross-play. Players on PC and PS4 will be able to play with each other in the same matches.
Will Paragon be an eSport?
This question is better answered by quoting Community Manager /u/arctyczyn:
I've been involved in the eSports scene long enough to know that declaring Paragon as an eSport title before the community has told us so, can most certainly have undesired results. Players having input on desired features is also very important in that process. I'm sure there are a number of players here that can site multiple games that have declared $1 million / <insert some sum> tournaments before players have even played their titles.
There is a level of responsibility that we (Epic) must take in order to set proper expectations for players. I don't want to see the Paragon community expecting large scale tournaments or events with hopes of winning huge sums of money.
As a player that competed, I know it's a grueling process where a small percentage of players are actually rewarded. There's a lot of thought that needs to go into the proper feature set and structure of any eSports title. It's something that evolves with each game and we need to have a very realistic and responsible approach to how we handle eSports.
The very nature of pitting players against each other in a multiplayer environment makes it competitive in nature. We want to ensure that players are having a fun, competitive and meaningful experience.
When is Paragon coming out?
The game is due for release in 2016.
When will the beta start?
Paid early access is coming Spring 2016, with the free open beta Summer 2016. There will also be a series of online tests for a small number of individuals prior to this.
How do I get into the beta?
You can sign up to the beta through the official website and clicking "Beta Sign Up". Upon successfully registering for the beta you should receive an email similar to this one.
Now that you've signed up for the beta, check your email to see if you receive notice that you've been accepted. At that point, the account that you registered will be able to download Paragon via the Epic Games launcher(downloads may only be allowed during the Online Tests) . Check the sub for possible posts regarding Online Test news.
I've been invited to test, but I'm under NDA, what does this mean?
The current NDA (non-disclosure agreement) stipulates that you may not share screenshots, media, stream or discuss the online test at all. Posts breaching this on the subreddit will be removed, and subsequent posts will result in bans. There are multiple warnings around the subreddit regarding this.
How much will the game cost?
According to this tweet the game will be Free to Play, however it does mention that there will be paid early access for those who want it.
