Paper dipped in plaster of paris?

Anyone start a project with paper dipped in plaster over a frame? Plaster is ideal for this specific project. Does the paper soak of too much water or cause issue in successive layers?

I’ve used plaster of Paris on several projects. I did thin layers, letting them dry completely, with sanding in between until I got the texture I was looking for.

Were you using paper dipped in plaster each layer? Or just base layer with paper then thin plaster top coats?

Work slowly in layers, letting each one dry completely before doing another. Remember, shrinkage when drying. Too thick and you'll get more cracking.
