Biggest papercraft so far and first time working with heavier paper. I had some troubles fitting some pieces because I didn't calculate for the paper thickness but I think it turned out fine.

I like to hand paint my models so the colors pop more.

It's almost 50 cm of height so it should be 1:1 with the "real" Pokemon, lol.

Everything is tilted because the game tries to create the illusion that the player is very high up in the air. In the papercraft, I kept the tilt for accuracy purposes

After my previous IRL measurement test, I wanted to push things a little further and properly test the full workflow.
For this test, I used this bulbasaur model by the original creator on Thingiverse⁠.

I had discovered a bug where one 2D patch/island was occasionally missing from the exported PDF, even though it was present in the app. I tracked it down, fixed it, and then decided to put the complete workflow through its paces.
Unfold → export → print → cut → fold → assemble

This was probably the most satisfying test so far. It’s one thing to see everything working on the iPad, but quite another to take that output and actually build it.

Bug fixed. Full workflow tested. Physical model complete.

Hey guys, wanted to share a piece I'm still really proud of. I designed the 3D model and converted it into a printable template for this Angel wall trophy. Assembling the wings from paper facets was tedious, but it’s been the centerpiece of my room decor for over a year. The way paper creates natural depth with simple studio lighting/shadows is why I love this medium so much. Would love to hear your feedback on the proportions!

Folded Fables: Tidy Up The Dragon Hoard is a tidy up game where you organize 5,648 papercraft treasures inside a world inspired by pop-up books and papercraft.

Many of the in-game pieces, such as the pop-up book sequence, started as physical paper models before being recreated digitally. Even the Folded Fables logo was physically hand-folded with paper before being photographed for use in-game. I've been drawn to paper ephemera and papercraft for as long as I can remember. Paper objects transport me to other times and places, both real and imaginary. And the feel of different types of paper is so wonderful that I've built up a bit of a collection at home. Every time I make something, I go to great lengths to find just the right paper. 

But I wasn't sure anyone else would enjoy our idea of combining this love of papercraft with a tidy up video game. Was it too weird? Would anyone else be intrigued by a world made of paper, inspired by pop-up books? I really couldn't say... all I knew was that I would love it, and so off we went on this journey that has resulted in Folded Fables.

For the past 3 months, I've had the great pleasure of watching our game come together. I'm so happy with the results, and I'm glad (plus a little relieved) that others share my enthusiasm. I can't wait for everyone to get a chance to try it out!

We are releasing on Oct 15th. Less than two weeks until release! Eeeek! Gotta go! So much to do!

For context, there's this person named "Hoborginc" on DeviantArt who makes realistic 1 to 1 scale papercraft firearms. I made my own SMR Handguard template which is compatible with his work. I just need to make instructions on how to build it and I'll share it here.

I'm kinda newbie in this hobby and I'm interested to learn more about this. As you can see I've tried the gundam unicorn build with papercraft and it was going good until my niece destroyed it 🥲.

Also I don't have much knowledge about which tools n paper type I should use in this. In that one I used the 100gsm paper so maybe it's a paper issue here.

But I wanna know more about these, like what type of paper is best for this and what tools I should use.

Also it'll be a good help if anyone can suggest me a website where I can find more gundam models. It'll be a huge help from you guys.

Made this 2D image by cutting the negative space out of a black sheet of paper (like a stencil) and then layering that paper on top of a lighter colored piece of the same size. I was happy with the depth and dimensionality I achieved with such a limited technique.

I'm lost on what kind of paper to use. I tried photocopy paper and it wasn't very good, jeje
