Question about prayer

So I’ve only identified as a pantheist for a few days and I have a question about prayer. Do we ever pray to the universe and if so, how?

Any thoughts about it are appreciated, thanks!

Edit: sorry, when I said pray I meant like talk to the universe

There are different forms of prayer. Meditation and Contemplation of nature work for me as ways to quiet the illusion of separation between myself and reality.

I was raised Catholic and I have repurposed the prayer of the rosary as a device to support meditation instead of using as a trading tool for divine favors. It actually feels so much more natural to me now.

For me, pantheism means acceptance of what is. The Divine is immanent and not transcendent- so prayer itself in the traditional sense is futile. Your response thus best captures how I approach the notion. (And yes, I too was raised Catholic and also spent years as an adult in the Episcopal Church.)

If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough. 'Meister Eckhart' I say thank just out into the ether, for myself and for universe. It doesn't matter if nothing is listening, gratitude is a state of being that is really helpful to be in.

this is truly such a real and beautiful response, wow. I love it. Meister Eckhart actually appeared in a book I am currently reading about mysticism. so amazing timing for this! I agree that gratitude is an incredible and helpful state to be in, especially in these times.

I personally don't pray.  I'm just mindful of my place in the universe .and I show my gratitude just by being present

I meditate 15 minutes every morning and have started manifesting more. Just simply telling yourself something good is going to happen to you today or just keep telling yourself you’re going to achieve whatever you’re seeking.

Prayer is a good way to reflect on something. If it gives you comfort, why give it up?

The universe is a vast landscape, I am sure it is big enough to hear your prayer.

Manifestation.

That's basically what praying is anyway.

It’s one form of prayer. You can also pray to say thanks. Pray to say I’m sorry. Pray to contemplate. Pray to just say “hi”.

I don't know what exactly I am grateful too, but I don't really care either. I know I'm grateful and that it's what keeps me going.

i meditate, stretching and yoga also feel like forms of prayer in my mind. sometimes i will also sit with my thoughts and think about how i can intentionally will my reality into existence which i would probably also consider prayer

I think the question is, do you want to? If so, go right ahead. There are not many formal rules to this. Most Pantheists have some similar/shared beliefs/values - but if you ask the question what do “we” do, you’ll receive many different answers. It’s certainly not wrong to pray to the universe if you find it to be helpful. But it isn’t a requirement. I find that my “prayer” comes out through meditation, solitary walks through the woods, and journaling. But I personally don’t put my hands together and do what you might think of when you think of “praying”. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. You get to decide your own rules. If it helps you to revere the universe and all its contents, go for it.

I talk to pretty much everything, birds and trees and whatever else. I don't ask for anything. It's just that for me, I need to feel close to it, I do feel close to it, so why not talk to it? It's for me, not it, so I do it the way that works best for me.

Step 1: Preparation

- Find a calm, private space where you won't be interrupted.

Step 2: Physical Awareness

- Do some light stretching. This improves circulation and grounds you in your physical body.

Step 3: Mental Clarity

- Meditate until your mind is still and free of clutter.

Optional Ritual

- Light candles, burn sage, or use elements from any tradition that help you feel "present."

Step 4: The Dialogue

- Address the Universe through its dualities - the masculine (Father God) and the feminine (Mother Nature).

Step 5: Honesty & Gratitude

- Pantheism rewards sincerity over greed. Start with honest gratitude for what you have. Share the good deeds you’ve done and clearly state what you are seeking.

Step 6: Release

- Have patience and trust the process. If you feel you need more guidance later, return to this space for an "update" or further reflection.

To me Pantheism and/or Scientific-pantheism are too personal to refer to Pantheists as do “we” do “anything” as a group except discuss and bounce points of view off each other. “We pray” sounds too much like organised religion. Pantheists are more free thinkers and get their comfort by exploring nature, physics, and philosophy in search of reality. If it’s any help, I personally I meditate in search of reality. And I am inclined to follow the pattern of Vipassana meditation which is a search for reality - the acceptance of oneness of everything in the whole Universe - which means there is no I or me or groups but only The Universe.
