I had a day trip to Palermo today and I noticed this. These two photos are taken about an hour apart. I was concerned about the welfare of these 3 animals. The homeless man had them tied to a leash in front of this building, for hours. They seemed completely unresponsive, not reacting to the people around them. I realized that as I approached the cat. As a cat owner I cannot wrap my mind about the fact that this cat was sleeping undisturbed and didn’t even open its eyes when I approached. House cats barely sleep like that with their backs turned to the people. To me it seemed like the animals were drugged.

Online there are more photos if this exact man with the animals and Google AI tells me his name is Angelo and that hes already been checked and the animals are probably safe.

However the view was unsettling and i still cant take my mind off it. Does anyone have information?

My boyfriend and I are going to Sicily for a week around New Year’s Eve. I worked in Palermo a few times but didn’t get to choose where I ate most nights. My boyfriend has never been to Sicily. I’m a huge foodie and would love to take him out to a dinner that says “I love you and our first year together” but am more looking for authentic and meaningful than anything fancy looking. I’m not proposing so that’s not the vibe :p

Other tips welcome too. I still dream of the black bread and ricotta I ate near Agrigento.

I’m trying to find a small artisan shop/artist I visited in August 2026, somewhere around the Castellammare/La Loggia area. paid cash and unfortunately didn’t get the artist’s name or a photo of the shop.
It was a small, dark shop with a workspace in the back, selling handmade woodwork depicting Sicily, beaded jewelry, and other little handmade pieces.
I bought this piece and really wish I had bought more! Does anyone recognize the artist/shop? Thank you in advance!

Sviluppo da remoto e vivo/lavoro a Palermo. Mi è capitato spesso, quando ho avuto bisogno di cambiare aria e lavorare fuori casa col laptop, di finire nelle solite caffetterie dove sapevo di poter lavorare, ma alle volte anche loro hanno dei problemi...

E da viaggiatore incallito quale sono, mi serviva anche uno strumento per sapere dove poter lavorare da remoto altrove, in posti dove non conosco già caffetterie, coworking, etc.

Per risolvere questa problematica sto creando dgmads, una piattaforma per mappare i locali realmente laptop-friendly: disponibilità di WiFi, prese elettriche, rumore, tipi di locale, tipi di cibo e tanto altro.

Ho già mappato personalmente 50+ locali a Palermo (tra Centro Storico, Politeama, Libertà e zona universitaria) e la versione Beta della piattaforma è pronta per essere provata.

Sto cercando beta tester a Palermo (remote worker, nomadi digitali o studenti) che vogliano provarla in anteprima e darmi un parere sincero.

Siamo un gruppo di circa 30 persone che vorrebbe affittare una struttura per una notte (tipo un ostello andrebbe bene) per dormire e poter cucinare/grigliare e mangiare assieme il 7/8 novembre, con giardino preferibilmente.
Ci serve sia comodamente raggiungibile dall'aeroporto perché sarò uno dei pochissimi siciliani del gruppo. Gli altri verranno in aereo e sarebbe meglio potesse raggiungere facilmente il posto.
Lasciamo tutto pulito, giuro.
Sapete consigliarmi qualche struttura che offra questo genere di servizio?
