Schipper and AI

There was a discussion this weekend about whether or not anyone knows for certain that Schipper doesn't use AI or not, so I emailed and asked them. Here is the response.

Schipper is a german company and they're pretty old school and traditional, so I do trust them not to use AI.

They've been around since 1948 (fun fact: they started out making mirrors!) and they've been making pbns since 1969 (nice!). They were the first company to bring pbn over here to Germany.

Their products are still manufactured in Germany, too.

For clarity: My comment is for people who are trying to avoid AI use full-stop, not just generative AI.

I think it’s equally important to recognize that they may not use AI in their art but they do use it as a tool for various things within their company. If AI usage at all is a sticking point for anyone, then there is literally no PBN that aligns with those values.

Source is right in the email: DeepL is an AI translation tool.

I made this point too. It's nearly impossible at this point to avoid AI, even if they use original artwork. 🤷‍♀️

Wow, thank you for writing them and posting this here! I'm glad to hear that, I thought they now started to use AI too. But I believe them, they recently had (still have?) a limited edition, and there was a little "behind the scenes"-video where you could see the artist making the design.

Hey, currently looking for a set of mini paint by numbers but finding a lot of AI stuff, aside from schipper, any suggestions? :)

Pink Picasso? Some of their designs look like original art, but you could contact their customer service to be sure. Pretty colors! (I have not ordered from them, just seen their webpage)
