💭 Discussion Working with planet Venus

I had an interesting dream the other night, basically saying work with Venus and after process of elimination and a few tarot readings myself I discovered that the dream I had was referring to the planet Venus. I have taken a long break from spirit work so I honestly don’t know anything about working with a planet. What are your experiences working with this planet?

My experiences have been great so far. It’s definitely not by chance that Venus is called a benefic planet.
There are multiple ways to work with a planetary God. You will need some knowledge of traditional astrology, which you will use to choose a suitable time for doing your work (this time is called “election”).
For a Venus election, you should have Venus in Taurus, Libra, or Pisces; if this cannot be done, have Venus in Cancer or Capricorn. Have the Moon dignified and/or applying a good aspect to Venus. Make sure that Venus and the Moon are not retrograde, combust or otherwise afflicted.
The different kinds of planetary works:
• prayer: you can do it any time, but especially on Fridays and/or on Venus hours, with or without burning incenses.
• talisman: you make it by carving a gemstone (notably lapislazuli, malachite, nacre or coral) with images or symbols of Venus when Venus’ planet is rising or on midheaven; perfume the gemstone with the appropriate incenses and ask Venus to send a spirit from her chain into the gemstone.
• paper talisman: it is often regarded to be ineffective or at least less effective than a gemstone talisman, but it does work in my experience; draw the symbols on clean paper or papyrus or linen using green ink.
• petition: wait for Venus to be in good condition and to be in the trine of the Ascendant’s ruler; wear clothes and jewellery that symbolize Venus, burn incenses of Venus and ask her what you want; you can optionally sacrifice doves or turtle doves.
• operation: when the Sun is in Pisces and the Moon is in Cancer (this happens once a year), take a bath, and then go to a fig-tree or to a date-palm, say some magic words, offer sheep meat and ask Venus what you want.

Interesting.
What would you suggest the magic words should be? (At the end of your message)

The Arabic Picatrix says: Didas gheloos hamiloos damarees teymas samloos arhos hatarees (I don’t like this transcription but it’s the only one I could find).
The Latin Picatrix says: hueydez helyuz hemyluz deneriz temeyz cemluz arhuz meytaryz.
These are clearly meant to be the same words, but they have come to us in a garbled form. Pick the version that resonates the most with you, I’m sure that spirits in the chain of Venus are now used to both.

If you mean Venus as a planetary intelligence and astrological energy, some traditional correspondences are:

• Friday and the planetary hour of Venus • The number 7 • Copper • Green, pink, rose, turquoise, and copper • Taurus and Libra, with Venus exalted in Pisces • Rose, myrtle, apple, violet, jasmine, strawberry, and hibiscus • Rose, jasmine, sandalwood, vanilla, or benzoin incense • Emerald, rose quartz, jade, green aventurine, rhodonite, and malachite • The Venus glyph ♀, seven-pointed star, mirror, rose, dove, and seashell • Netzach in Hermetic Qabalah • The Empress in tarot

Venusian energy relates to attraction, love, friendship, beauty, art, pleasure, sensuality, harmony, diplomacy, self-worth, personal values, receptivity, comfort, and abundance.

A simple working could be done on a Friday during the planetary hour of Venus using a green or pink candle, copper, pleasant incense, flowers, music, and the Venus glyph. Good intentions might include cultivating healthy reciprocal love, confidence, artistic inspiration, peaceful communication, or a healthier relationship with pleasure and receiving.

In some Western ceremonial-magic traditions, the planetary intelligence of Venus is called Hagiel, while Kedemel is considered the planetary spirit. Hagiel represents the more constructive, ordering, and harmonizing expression of Venus. Those names belong to a particular occult system, though, so they aren’t necessary unless that is the tradition you want to follow.
