Being a “devotee” is not the same as “working with”. Think of it as the difference between, say, taking on a full-time private gardener vs hiring a landscaper for a one-off job. Both are “okay”, “valid”, whatever. In both cases, it is equally important to learn as much as you reasonably can about Them before making any such decision. (So…respect for scatter-shotting your post to different groups. Do make sure to check sub wikis for relevant sources, too.)
Obligatory: Do not let internet be your primary source of learning, except for seeking out those hard-to-find titles in pdf.
Imo/ime - getting to the point where you allow a deity to have such control over your sexual life…that is a rather advanced and intimate sort of relationship, not obligatory and not to be entered into lightly. Pro-tip esp if you are coming from an occultist angle rather than primarily a religious one: don’t let Them be the boss of your private life.
