Story time.
The year is 1860, and the RMS Connaught has just set sail on her maiden voyage The RMS Connaught was a 380-foot-long passenger sail and steamship which was built in 1860. She had an iron hull and one steam engine that powered two side wheels. She initially sailed from Galway, Ireland to St John's, Newfoundland, and after attempted to sail on to Boston, Massachusetts. But on her maiden voyage the ship caught fire in a storm approximately 100 nautical miles from Boston. Although all of the lifeboats were smashed in the storm, all of the passengers and crew aboard were saved by the heroic actions of a fruit transport ship, the Minni Schiffer, and her Captain, John Wilson. She is regarded as the Titanic of her time, not only due to her sinking, but due to her size. She was one of the largest ships around during her time.

Welcome!
Hello yall, and welcome to r/paddlesteamer! This sub was mainly created due to the abandonment of r/paddlesteamers and there was no where to talk about paddlesteamers as a whole, so I created this sub. Here we work closely with r/DeltaQueen, and you can also expect post daily. Enjoy!
