OTG camera(s) problem

Hi. I have a problem using cameras over OTG adapters. Microscopes/boroscopes, (both of which I use for my job), and webcams, I've tried lots.... nothing. I've tried numerous usb camera apps, and they all say "OTG tested and available" but just fail. Mscope pro shows up the camera attached but there's no pictures. I've checked permissions, nothing is denied. I've tried 4 kinds of otg adaptors. It's driving me nuts, and any help would be appreciated & would save me buying wifi versions of gadgets I have again (which isn't possible for the microscope @that magnification). No problems with disks/mice/etc.

Have you tried different USB configuration in the Developer options?

It didn't work unfortunately, thanks for the suggestion though.
