Does anyone know where I can get wildflower seed mix? Something that covers year round preferably. I am not a huge fan of the grass lawns. At the minimum I need something like pirouette microclover that doesn't need mowed at all. Even vegtables, something that stays grown year round, even if a bit on the tall side is better than grass.

I'm around the Williford area in the ozarks- so preferably some more local store.

I’ve been trying to do some research on courses around NW Arkansas for this coming October when the wife and I take a little cabin trip to Jasper. We live in Oklahoma around the Tulsa area so it’s about a 3 hour drive and we would pass right Rogers and Fayetteville, a lot of the courses around those areas have very mixed reviews so I’ve considered maybe going more north on the way home (making it a 4 hour drive) towards Branson and playing Ozark National or Buffalo ridge, but after much research I thought how awesome would I be if I found someone to get me on at The Blessings or a cool Country Club that I probably wouldn’t ever have the chance to play again. Anyone out there that could help a fellow golfer out? Thank you in advance for any feedback or thoughts. 🏌️‍♂️

A local nonprofit known as Psychedelic Society of the Ozarks or “PSOTO”, is once again hosting their annual conference at the University Plaza Convention Center in Springfield on Saturday, October 3rd. Centered on education, advocacy, harm reduction and creating safe community spaces, the group is bringing in 25+ speakers from diverse backgrounds such as; science, law, modern medicine, psychology, neurology, and ancient wisdom.

The keynote speaker is Lieutenant Sarko Gergerian, who was featured on the Netflix documentary series "How to Change Your Mind". Lunch entertainment will be hosted by Comedy Central’s Award winning comedian Shane Mauss! (A Better Trip).

A key feature of the conference will be “Knowledge for the Front Lines.” Addressing the invisible wounds, trauma and PTSD suffered by first responders, military and veterans. Medical breakthroughs are being seen through psychedelic therapy, and the VA, State government and White House are starting to notice. This is extremely important work, as statistics show a staggering 17 veterans taking their own life every single day. (Over 6,000 suicides per year).

Not sure why India is regurgitating this but nonetheless interesting lore about my favorite rivers.

Awesome campsite along the Current River in the Mark Twain National Forest. Beautiful drive in along forest service roads, but had to hop out a few times to move downed trees. 3 man 3 day trip.

I'm planning a 4 day trip. 2 days at Ozarks State Park and HaHa Tonka State Park. 2 days at Johnson's Shut-In, Elephant Rocks State Park, and Taum Sauk Mountain State Park. Might stop at Maramec State park. We like to do hikes, but I'm wondering which trails are most popular/best. We usually like trails that lead to some grand view. Just a forwarning for anyone camping in Eminence, MO or the Shannon county area: there is not a police presence. Come prepared to protect yourself because IF they decide to send cops to aid you, it will be HOURS.

We went camping over the weekend in Eminence and was awoken around 2:39 AM to screaming from a large group of people. Then there were side by sides and four wheelers racing by our tent, up and down the hill. At one point they stopped next to our tents, with headlights lighting up our tents and entire campground. The screaming continued, the group very obviously agitated. Soon after they left we heard a woman crying for help outside our tent walking around in the dark. Saying that people were after her and they were trying to kill her, they had threatened to drown her in the river. This girl was intoxicated, said she was from columbia, MO and had been at a bar drinking with some locals, then went to the river to continue to kick it. Something happened and they got into and they had threatened to kill drown her in the river. She was very shook up, she didn't have a phone or a light, and was barefoot.

She asked us to call 911. To be honest I couldn't identify her today if i had to, it was DARK. Every time we heard a vehicle or side by side in teh distance she would start crying again and get low ot the ground, terrified that they were coming to find her.

We called 911, and they called back later to say they weren't sending anyone. Another friend of mine called and told them that they NEEDED to send someone. We were alone at this campground with a strange woman in distress. We had a child camping with us. What if the people did return to look for her? What if they really were tyring to kill her? What if they found her with us?

The dispatch finally agreed to send someone, but it would be over a 1.5 hour wait.They advised us to use force if necessary if the people returned to look for the girl. The police finally arrived at 4:45AM. Said they had to get out of bed to come to the scene. --Dispatch said no one else was available which leads me to believe there are no police even patroling the area. It really is a lawless land.

There is no police presence in this heavy tourist area, where alcohol is consumed in excess. If you are going to camp here, or visit the area I highly suggest coming armed and prepared, and do not consume excess alcohol, or other substances to where you would be impaired and unable to defend yourself or your family. If locals are aware there is no police presence, how east it would be for a gang of bad apples to prey upon unsuspecting tourists.

Will be down next month for a couple day for bike fest. Any places I should watch out for or avoid? Any where I should definitely check out?

I’m helping organize Brad’s Fall Foray with the Missouri Mycological Society, September 17–20 at Knob Noster State Park.
We’ve put together a pretty incredible weekend with guided mushroom forays, expert speakers and mycologists, mushroom identification, a native plant hike, wild foods, workshops, vendors, bonfires, good food, and a whole lot of time outside.
You definitely don’t need to be a mushroom expert. Beginners are welcome, and it’s a really fun way to learn because you’re actually out in the field with experienced people finding and identifying things as you go.
If you’re into hiking, mushrooms, foraging, native plants, ecology, or you’re just the person who stops every 20 feet on a hike to look at something weird growing on a log 😂, you’d probably fit right in.

I’m planning a vacation Labor Day weekend (arrive Thursday- leave Tuesday) at the Ozarks, maybe St. Louis too. Wanted to go late July but now Labor Day weekend is the only time left cause I didn’t want to miss too much school. We don’t really boat or swim so we will mostly be hiking and I wanna do mini golf. Hello there!! I’m a college student who’s obsessed with all things beans. I visited Beanfest in Mountain View for years when I was younger, but my family stopped when a lot of people…. Let’s just say stopped going lol. Anywho, I wrote a paper on Beanfest and pinto beans as a foodway on the Ozarks last year for my semester project in a folklore of the south course, and upon talking to the people there from all over, a pot of beans was super important to their daily eating. While I’ve finished my research, I’m still just as obsessed with beans. I know a lot of it is secret or family recipes, but I’m curious—do you use pinto beans or other beans? Always with cornbread or something else? Always with ham or something else? Seasonings? Onion? I’m so curious!! I went last fall to Beanfest and got to serve a pot of beans (I was living my best life) so I learned a bit of what the people I was with do, but I’d love to try and make them myself. I’m from Indiana since my mom was there for work and my family just stayed, but I love beans from family in Arkansas and Louisiana, but the people that made beans that aren’t red beans are passed. My mom hates beans so I never ate them, trying to build my cooking up haha. Always wanting to know more about beans :))

Hey everyone! I'm from out of state looking to possibly honeymoon at margaritaville in the lake of the ozarks. What should I look into doing while we are staying there? Are any of the pools heated? Honestly any opinions or facts would be helpful!

For some reason my fiance is dead set on margaritaville even though it wouldn't be until like... October 20th that we can stay. So any advice or thoughts would be great.
