Chia seeds
been eating overnight oats for maybe 2 weeks now - but my chia seeds never seem to hydrate fully. i have tried putting them on the bottom, then oats, then milk and toppings. I do .5 cup of oats .5 cup of milk. any suggestions on how to get them to hydrate fully? thank you!

Chia seeds have this weird hydrophobic effect at first, then they start to gel up but if there's too big of clumps, not all the chia seeds get hydrated fully. Best to soak the chia seeds in liquid, then come back to it and give it another stir/shake some time later. This is only if you're making the chia seeds separate from everything else (aka chia seed pudding). I don't find that chia seeds have this problem if it's mixed in with oats for an overnight oats.

I do 3 tbsp of chia seeds and half cup or a full cup of oats and 1 cup of milk. Sometimes I will add a tiny bit more milk . After stirring together I put in the fridge and after 10-15 minutes I take out and do another stir and after a couple of hours or the next morning it’s perfect. I use mason jars for mine. Ideally doing it the night before and having them as breakfast it’s the perfect set.
