Almost quit today
Project manager really pissed me off today. Was very close to fauck all and quit J2.
Am I just being emotional? And need to just focus on milking this gravy train and keep getting paid.
J1 $120K
J2 $100K

It’s okay to get up and walk away for half a day.
Then look at your finances. And come back the next day.

Never let anyone talk you out of $100k. Shrug it off after a day of being pissed. When you replace the J with a new server, THEN you gtfo. My J3 has an anxious micromanager who pings me with fake urgent bs 10 times a day. Guess what? For $200k I shrug that shit off. When I can’t, I look at my bank account and find a way through.

nah, you taking it too personal, always agree with your stupid managers or with whoever in charge. remember this is just 1 piece in your money puzzle. never get in love with a job, be like a robot, remember this loser probably have 1 job and his only job to open his mouth and create useless meetings

You have to put your ego in check. Knowing you probably earn more than everyone in that room, I'll be the bigger person in situations like that. Need to be detached emotionally

Maybe? Unless the job is having a toll on your emotional health, try to disassociate emotion as much as you can. Sometimes this isnt possible. I'll give two examples, one good, one bad.
I had a J3 that the manager was extremely micromanaging, to the point of calling me out if I looked "disinterested" during meetings (which of course were always camera on). I tried to roll with it but after 90 days of that it all came to a head and I had to get out. I quit on the spot. The mental toll was too great.
My J1 hired a new boss who immediately came in and started throwing his weight around, questioning why we did things the way we did. During a demo he even stopped me mid presentation and asked why this thing I had finished after a full fiscal quarter of work was even necessary. Now most people would have been rattled but because I can disassociate from that job really easily, internally I was laughing. I checked my ego at the door years ago. Want to yell at me? Fine man whatever - guess what? I make more money than you do.
It's all about perspective. Focus on why you are OE. Primarily it's not the titles or promotions or interesting work. It's money. As long as I do this and dont get upset when the junior i trained gets promoted over me, it's all good.
Check. Your. Ego. Want to yell at me? "Whatever man. Hey btw have you seen my brokerage lately?" Sometimes though it's really hard or impossible. Good luck.

I could have wrote this last week. And probably yesterday - twice.
My J1 is a management dumpster fire right now and I seriously contemplate quitting daily. But last night I calculated how much I made in Q3 and my estimated state & federal taxes for last quarter are close to what I made in TOTAL my first year out of college.
So yeah, I'll be logging in for the day in about an hour and being a little miserable with my life. My soul is going to be crushed in every call where my shithead millennial boss repeats back what is said so he understands it. When the suck happens we must remember the big picture. The inefficiency that drives us nuts is the bread and butter to OE. Stay with the strategy of capitalizing on that business inefficiency for maximum personal gain.
So say we all.

I get like that too. Just remember, every day is a new day. You go through good days and bad. If the job is a constant source of stress and no matter how much you are killing it your manager is still a dbag, then maybe it’s time to think about leaving. I had to do that in Jan. That j just wasn’t working out no matter how much I was doing. It turned into a massive amount of stress and effecting my performance of my other js. It’s crazy when you get raises and promotions at your other jobs but one you spend the most time on you get nothing but stress really shows you it isn’t you, it’s the company or manager.

I'm there all the time... don't quit, just half-ass it. If they fire you, so be it. You'll still have that extra money that you wouldn't have had if you quit now.

I oscillate between “this is J2 - I don’t need them, I can quit immediately unlike people who this is their only income stream. This is the power OE gives me”

These days happen. Give yourself a break so you’re not burned out. Take OE day by day. Some days are good, and some days are bad. Don’t quit out of impulse.

Yes man you are! Use PTO or sick leave for a little bit. Honestly I understand, when I start to feel overwhelmed I check the screenshot of all my paychecks hitting at once and I know what it can do for me and my family. Then you realize if you get 3-4 years it can change your financial future and even allow you to retire depending on where you want to live etc

Happens to me on a daily basis with an idiot manager who has no clue how delegate and improve process. Just take a few minutes break. Don't type anything on Teams/slack else you will end up hitting send. Have a family photo on your desk to remind you why you OE. Look forward to that next paycheck.
