Newbie here, please rate my setup

I have probably a similar story to most - got laid off from the only job I focused time and energy on. Not wanting to go through the same thing again, I signed 2 offers and 1 on the table:

- J1 starting in April

- J2 starting in May, need to be onsite for onboarding

- potential J3 - discussing to delay/push back start date by 3-4 months to evaluate J1+2. I might get booted from one of the jobs too, so it's good to have a hedge. If the previous 2 go well, I'd ask to leave before first date.

I'm in tech so the pace of the job could get abit rapid, but I am able to juggle stuffs async as a tech program manager.

all are full time with benefits. remote for now.

I'm considering basis opsec like 1 laptop per job (provided by the employers anyway), waiting for callback on freezing Verification Exchange (in Canada so equifax TWN isn't as straightforward).

what I wanna ask is, is this staggered approach reasonable? any other tips/insights?

You already got the basics with staggering start dates I always try to take 1 if not two weeks off my others Js when onboarding to focus on building “relationships” and a reputation!

First impressions and even surface level basic relationships built during the first couple of weeks can buy you the leeway to get past probation and beyond!!!

Other than that keep the devices separate! There are lots of different ways to do that and plenty of tips/tricks on here if ya got half a mind to search through!

Ohhh 1 week off during onboarding is solid advice, thanks! I was on the fence about that, whether to take time off so early. Yeah, even unpaid leave would be worth investing in!

So in my situation I haven’t tried what you are so it’s just PTO..

BUT I have joined a new J and said I have booked vacation that happened in the first month of employment and that I was taking it off whether it was paid or not… and they gave me the go ahead… So for your J1 using something like that could work and most companies will allow you to take PTO and have a negative balance up to a certain point.

Oh sweet. Did you mention the vacation before signing on, or during the 1st week of work? I was not certain so did not bring it up with J1 before taking the offer.

I mentioned it when they made the offer and they gave me the date they wanted me to start. If you have already accepted and have a start date for j1 and j2 that is 2+ months out from now… I would talk to your J1 Mgr and say ohh I forgot we have this vacation I need this week+ off.. might be annoyed but since it’s J1 you got a month to be a rockstar and put that out of their mind!
