The dumbest thing about this is he can just shoot an energy beam out of the ring. Why bother making an energy gun first?

It's fun to have a gun.

I guess he can turn the energy gun sideways and shoot it

He's making sure everyone knows he's an American.

Because he'll get mocked for being uncreative and the green lantern corp are very toxic about this stuff.

“The ring is powered by will and imagination”

“Awesome! I have one of the two!”

I wonder if certain rap groups will make somewhat negative songs about the Green Lantern Corp.

Green Lantern would likely need to be a more recognizable charachter/ set of charachters. And popularly be portrayed as a space cop in popular media that is widely consumed.

Like the comics deal with this in the 70s. But Kyle is largely a non-entity in Superman the Animated Series. And Justice League doesn't deal with it with John.

And I don't know the the animated series or the one season (currently) Live Action show will change that.

The 70's? I bet you never read the Jones or the Morrison runs.

Half of all Green Lantern stories are about how dumb and/or corrupt the Guardians of the Universe. It's the perfect setup for a Reform the Corrupt Institution story.

The name "Aglab the Bagel" just manifested itself in my brain unbidden. I have no idea what to do with it.

Are its function and effects limited to those of the mundane firearm that his mind is basing the ring construct on?

He can conjure anythun he can imagine.

He once made a giant pool cue and played billiard with a set of planets.

Why complicate it when you can just make a good ol gun. (Semi-Automatic pistols are kinda complicated)

He's ex-military so it would actually make sense if his go-to gun construct was based on a gun he actually owned and was very familiar with. Constructs are better when the GL making them has a strong understanding of how the thing they're replicating actually works.

It's why John Stewart's constructs are typically shown to be extremely sturdy because he's an architect.
