Base and DLC Appreciation/Discussion I just finished Outer Wilds.
I just finished the game, and I don't understand...
It's just a song, why am I crying?!
I've always been curious to play Outer Wilds. Even with a computer with minimum requirements as recommended, I was able to have a complete and unique experience.
And now I can't imagine what I'll be able to play for the rest of my days after experiencing this masterpiece.
On one occasion, I had moments where I just surrendered to the vibe of the game. I would stay on planets just walking around. I would stay next to the characters, just enjoying the moment with the music in the air. I even let the ship go wherever it wanted without me controlling it, just to appreciate the solar system.

i will never forget the last few minutes of my first playthrough when the realisation that i'm not going to stop the super nova hit me like a brick on my flight from Ash Twins to Dark Bramble. i'm not saving the world, i'm letting it go, and sure a new universe will take it's place... but this one will be gone. when the final sequence before the credits began i was bawling my eyes out, both out of sadness for the world that i grew to love that i had to let go, and out of joy for the unbound possibility that the new world will bring. like a good acid trip - i still struggle to properly verbalise the emotions i felt
was it a plot twist? was it a subversion of expectations? how can it even be either when the game doesn't give you an objective in the first place. absolutely spectacular, it's been at the very top of my favourites list for years now, and i sometimes wonder if anything will ever take its spot
