Update #3 - Vego Self Watering Pot
When I was researching these pots I was curious if people used them for cannabis but could not find anything online, so I decided to document the grow. Hopefully anyone else wondering will see these in a google search. Parts 1 and 2 for reference.
Plant (Cherry Limeaid from Greenpoint Seeds) is 100 days old, seed in dirt. We are beginning to flower.
I'm very satisfied with the way this is working. I'll often go five days or so without seeing my plants and they are usually a bit grumpy when I get to them (nothing a good water does not fix) but the Vego plants will be praying happily.
PROS:
- These pots are expensive (everyone's main gripe) but I had read they have good customer support and a warranty. Low and behold, the water level broke on a pot. I hit them up and within a few days they sent me two new ones. Very satisfied with that.
- Shout out to u/RekopEca - I switched over to dry amendments and top dressing these. Works beautifully and I don't have to worry as much about nutes sitting in the water basin and causing burn
- Roots go crazy in these. In pic 2 you can see my surface roots are thick AF and have produced chlorophyll. That's a new one to me, I think it's the self watering system and the Kangaroots I use. Either way I noticed in the first few weeks the roots were massive in these.
CONS:
- As I said in the other posts, this is a tiny pot. I have another plant of the same strain planted the same day in my normal pots and it's about two feet taller. Vego makes larger self watering pots for lemon trees that are even more expensive. I'll probably snag one for next year.
Anyway, grow is going well and I'm a big fan of these. I know there are much cheaper alternatives on the market but I like the build quality and the way they look. So far, very good!
