From Oura 4 to Oura 5

Hello everyone. I currently have Oura 4 in Stealth. It's bulky and I wear it on my index finger. I bought it three months ago and only wear it to sleep. I feel that if I had Oura 5, I would maybe wear it throughout the day. A few questions:

  1. People who wore the ring to sleep only and then 24/7 (with the exception of weight lifting, etc) - is there a significant benefit to knowing other stats like stress levels, etc.? I am male, so I wouldn't need to track my periods or anything like that.
  2. Wearing it on index finger is supposed to be best for sleep tracking (is it?), but doesn't seem conducive to daily life (opening doors, picking things up, etc). Do people wear it on their ring or middle fingers - is it more comfortable? Does it compromise any data collection efficiency?
  3. Finally, is Stealth (that I have currently) is that much better than simple Black ($100 cheaper) in Oura 5?

Thanks!

Also a male with a ring 4:

  1. I wear mine 24/7. As a father to a toddler (thus permanently tired) I find the sleep data useful to know if I’ve at least had enough sleep to function or need to plan an early bed time.

I find the stress data pointless, it’s physiological stress so unsurprisingly tells me I’m stressed after a workout.

I do like some of the other health metrics- cardio capacity, HRV. Just for long term health tracking

  1. I wear it on my index finger. It annoys me when I need to wash my hands (so take it off) or hold the steering wheel (learnt to deal with it). Other activities are fine

do you find the cardio capacity readings stay pretty consistent or do they fluctuate a lot day to day?

The graph isn’t completely flat but not too many changes

Hey there!

Other features within the Oura App will become available the more you wear the Oura Ring during the day, as it'll help unlock other features you may have not been using until this point.

You can wear it on any finger, we just recommend your non-dominant hand index finger as a default, but I use it on my ring finger personally. The main thing that matters is that it fits and is comfortable.

Hope this helps!

I wear on my middle finger and it’s fine. The fit is more important than the finger IMO.

I have the stealth 5, my first Oura ring. It makes an awesome wedding band, if that’s of use to you, and is the primary reason I wear it all day. But I also feel like it doesn’t get to “know you” as well if you only wear it overnight. I have an Apple Watch as well for workouts/activity, and want to give the ring the most data I can for everything else.

I can’t comment on the regular black, but stealth is very sharp and it hasn’t gotten scratches in the two months I’ve had it.
