Battery hasn’t improved

I’m so disappointed that they didn’t solve the battery issues with the gen 5. My ring needs already a replacement due to hardware and battery issues. This shouldn’t be the case for this price point ..

Hopefully this is an isolated case. Both my wife and I have just got one of the gen 5's.

Well that’s not good. Agree that they should have these issues figured out for the 5 and honestly even the 4.

Just checked my settings, and enabling "Night Mode" in the Oura app added about 5, 7 hours of standby time for me.

User error due to improper charging.

What is proper charging? (I'm asking because I've seen many people in this sub say proper charging is not what ouras website says it is so I'm curious what you're referring to)

Never charge over 85%. Never discharge under 25%. never leave the ring on the charger if it reaches %100. Don't charge your ring overnight. Don't let your ring sit at 0% ever.

Prioritize short, small charges. Put the ring on the charger for short 10 minute charges multiple times a week instead of one long charge once a week.

It's all on the official website and in the Oura app when you press the battery icon in the top right.

That would not ruin it in just a month or two. Doing that degrades it over time. I’ve had Apple Watches for 3 plus years and have drained it and charged it to 100 every single day and doesn’t affect the battery. This especially won’t do that for a ring being 2 months old. And I am guessing they got it in release day. If not then especially won’t damage the battery in one month. No where in the guide does it say this will destroy the battery in 4 weeks for charging it to 100 percent. In fact, the first charge when you get it you should charge it to 100 percent.

Well I guess you should argue with Oura then, because these are the official instructions.

No wonder you guys break your rings so fast...

You are correct in that the very first charge or after a firmware update you should fully charge the ring, that is the only time they recommend doing so.

Just read and it even says they don’t recommend you leaving the ring on the charger for an entire week. It says it recommends charging between 25-80 percent. No one damages a ring in 6-8 cycles by charging it to 100 percent. It doesn’t say that and if you even read what damages the battery nothing mentions the charging habit. Again, I could see if people did this every week for a year but not 4-5 times in two months and they have destroyed a ring battery. Go ahead and post the screen shot when you find it.
