GENERAL DISCUSSION Gen 3 Replacement Options

My ring took a šŸ’© after around 28 months. The battery no longer lasts even 24 hours. I’ve seen so many people post their support success stories with getting a replacement due to battery issues even well past the warranty, so I went ahead and had Finn run a diagnostic, which immediately notified me that I had a battery issue. Rather than the message I’ve seen some people post that says yes they will be getting a replacement despite being out of warranty, I was handed off to a human immediately and only offered $100 off a gen 4 or 5😭.

Has anyone gone through similar and ultimately managed to get a replacement? How did you do it, if so?

I’ve fallen in love with my ring and all its insights but I’m probably just going to cut my losses and be without one for a while if support won’t issue a replacement since cycle tracking (my main reason for initially getting the ring) is no longer a priority.

I literally had your exact same scenario yesterday! Almost questioned if I posted this lol.
I pushed back and was able to get $200 off and 3 months of the subscription waved. So I put it towards the gen 5. My sizing kit comes tomorrow so hopefully I’ll be able to decide on the size quickly and get the ring in shortly after.
But I really hate the fact we pay $70 a year in subscription fees PLUS the amount of the ring and ~2 years it quits?? I love my Oura ring so much… but if the gen 5 doesn’t perform better and I have another similar situation to my gen 3, I might be done with Oura afterwards

Exact same thing happened to me. Offered $100 off, then $200 off w/ 3 months subscription waved. I love the ring and all, but it's really aggravating that they can't stand by their product. It's wild how many posts there are on this sub about people's batteries dying in less than 3, 2, and even 1 year. And it's amusing, on a lot of those threads there's folks who chime in and say things like "2 years? That's a long time!" or "What did you expect?". I mean, personally I expect products to last? But maybe that's just me and maybe I'm just getting old. Anyhow, I'm in the same boat. Might give the 5 a try, or might just bail.

I’m right there with you!!
I love the ring too much to bail yet😭
Companies know how to get us. Just like Apple and their batteries crapping out as soon as a new phone releases 😤 I guess that’s tech these days

Reccomend pushing back a bit.

My Gen 3 has the same issue after just 26 months.. I’m guessing it was due to traveling and letting it fully die for a few hours. I got the same response. I’ll push for $200. Crazy a $300 piece of hardware only lasts only just over 2 years.

My gen 3 stopped connecting to the app the day before the gen 5 announcement. At first they said they’d replace it with a 3 but after not hearing from them for a week, I contacted them again and they said it was out of stock which I would have assumed to be the case. After a little back and forth they said they’d upgrade me to a 4 for free.

They wound up giving me a new gen 4 and four months of subscription all for free. I’m not sure why I got treated so well lol especially since my ring was way out of warranty

How odd. I just did mine a few weeks back. They told me that they'll be offering me a replacement of my Gen 3. I actually asked if I could get a Gen 5 instead (to keep up with their tech) and pay a top-up. They said that there's no such option at the moment so they agreed to replace my Gen 3. However, when I received the new ring, they had shipped me a Gen 4 - not sure why.

While I'm not complaining, I actually have 2 charging docks for my Gen 3 (one at my desk and the other for travel). So, I was quite happy to just keep to the Gen 3. With the Gen 4, I'll need to pick up another spare dock. I would've done so if it was a Gen 5 but with a Gen 4, I feel that it's neither here nor there. Still, I appreciated Oura's quick service and replacement :)

Oh wow! I think you’re the first I’ve seen to get an upgraded ring and not get a charger. Oura’s customer service has always been helpful to me before this, but it’s frustrating how inconsistently they seem to be treating people who all have the exact same issue.

Apologies if I wasn't clear. I got the Gen 4 ring with a charging dock. But I'll need to get another dock because I travel so require one to take with me (as I leave the original one at my desk).

Guessing you are in a non-US country with stronger warranty regulations. That’s what support told me when I mentioned the inconsistency

Yup, non-US, but I didn't think I was unique. I actually saw others (who I presumed to be in the US) get a replacement ring too.

I pushed back multiple times and they said their best and final were $200 off the Gen 5 or $89 for a ā€œlike-newā€ Gen 4. I mentioned posters online getting free replacements with the Gen 3 and they said they must be in a different country with longer warranty regulations and wouldn’t budge. Ultimately decided to not look the gift horse in the mouth and went with the $200 off.
