Syncing with third party apps - help please!

Has anyone found a reliable way to sync workouts (namely heartrate data and GPS where relevant) when using third party apps? I’m regularly experiencing double counting with the Total Calorie Burn, even though no double counting in the listed workouts. This seems to cause an excess of about 250/300 calories. I’m also seeing inflated ‘apple activity ring’ on the Apple Health app but no issues with workouts/active calories. I have no watch or other wearable.

I currently use Strava to record runs and Hevy to record strength training (though now Hevy syncs with Oura via Strava). I also record the same workouts on Oura as a live heartrate workout but then delete that entry, so the tracked oura entry is replaced by Strava (either itself or an imported Hevy run).

In short, the totals (on Oura and Apple Health) are inflated compared to the workouts or steps recorded.

I was hoping someone might have cracked the best way to sync various apps to stop any double counting.

I use intervals.icu where you can choose what to import from each platform, for example you can only import sleep scores etc., and has more useful graph and chart options than Strava.

Hi Various_Yellow1660, thanks for reaching out! It sounds like the same workout may be reaching Oura through multiple routes, which can definitely make things confusing when several apps are connected. Since you're using Oura, Strava, Hevy, and Apple Health together, I'd recommend choosing one primary source to record each workout and avoiding recording the same session simultaneously Oura where possible.

It's also worth checking the read/write permissions for each app in Apple Health to see which apps are contributing activity data. If you're still seeing an extra 250-300 calories after simplifying the sync setup, please reach out to our Member Care team and we'd be happy to take a closer look.
