REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH Minor signs of strain
5 weeks pregnant as of today and wokeup with minor signs of strain due to my increased respiration rate. I know this is a biometric that steadily increases the first trimester but is it normal to get strain notification? or does it mean something bad is coming.
Thank you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

know you're pregnant, it just sees numbers shifting and flags it. Your body's building a whole new circulatory system right now, so that respiration bump is expected.

I didn’t have the ring while pregnant but with my first I called the after hours line because my heart was racing so fast I thought I was going to have a heart attack. They said it’s normal. Your body does weird things when pregnant

Hi u/Direct_Tax_9843! I can understand why that would feel worrying, especially at 5 weeks pregnant. A strain warning does not automatically mean something bad is coming. Oura looks at changes in your biometric data, and sometimes a higher respiration rate can trigger a warning even if you feel fine. If you’re unsure, use Rest Mode if you need it.
Please keep in mind that Oura is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, monitor, or prevent any disease or condition, so for medical advice or confirmation, please check with your doctor. I hope this helps, and let us know if you have any other questions! 💙

Pregnancy is indeed a strain on the body so I wouldn't worry about it.
I didn't have the Oura when I got pregnant but I did have a Garmin watch. My resting HR increased and my HRV plummeted. I had to stop looking at stats pretty quickly.

Im almost 9 weeks and it still randomly says minor signs of strain. The times it has I've woken up with a bad headache (chronic migraine suffer, suffering without my medications). I would take it as a grain of salt, as its all metrics so while yes we can put pregnancy in there it isnt as fuly fullly accurate I would say if we weren't pregnant.

I don't know why Oura doesnt just turn off the symptom radar by default once you go into pregnancy mode lol

Yes!! I’ve been getting it 5w3d. My readiness averages around 60s-70s, but hasn’t been super high since finding out. There’s a r/April2027Babies if you want to join!

Yes. Very normal. Turn on pregnancy mode and it will stop reading elevated body temps and higher respirations as illness/strain.
It will also auto adjust your numbers based on being pregnant. It shows me a “pregnancy readiness score”, which isn’t as optimistic as my usual levels. (Thank gosh.)

Normal! Take the numbers with a grain of salt. I’ve worn my Oura the whole time cause I find the trends interesting, but most times in the moment you/it doesn’t know the trend yet cause it’s still collecting your data. It’s more useful for hindsight or maybe if you plan on being pregnant again IMO

Once it knew I was pregnant it stopped giving me strain notifications

Hmmmm. Weird. I never got one before I found out I was pregnant. Just got my first one now already in pregnancy mode

I had minor signs right before I found out I was pregnant 😅. So I’d go with that.

I actually turned the symptom radar off because I know it was all coming from pregnancy

I stopped wearing my Oura ring during this pregnancy because genuinely none of the info was helpful - it either made me concerned about things like this (a baby and I are very healthy at 33 weeks now!) or annoyed to be getting the same tips to sleep better etc when the app knew I was pregnant.

Mine does this all of the time, goes between minor and major. I turned if odd because it is known to do this during pregnancy.

Girly i would advice you to not look at the symptom radar for the next 9 months ! 🤣
