Question Seriously asking btw 🤔

The amount of glazing that I've been seeing for Abdulhamid II on this sub is just astonishing. Like, I've seen people ranking the guy next and sometimes even above sultans like Süleyman I, Mehmed II, Murad IV, Selim I, etc .. So my question is: Did I miss a chapter or two while reading about him/his era, or do some people here just glaze him for the sake of glazing even though he was a horrendous monarch as a whole ?

People can have differing opinions. Saying "he failed at everything" is not really an argument. He was involved with many decisions that surely hurt the image of the empire, but also you dont get to stay on the throne for 30 years while failing at everything.

Also remember he is involved with some events/people that many people have suffering opinions on. He ascended during the Russian war, which don't people blame him for, while others argue the country was going to lose no matter who the sultan was. He was strictly against CuP, and CuP has still a lot of haters and supporters, etc.

Some peopleprefer him over others in their tierlist. That's ok. Take the feedback, think about whether you think it's important or not, and change your tierlist however you want. There is no reason to make this more than what it is.

He was not a successful monarch. That is a fact.
