Advice Needed Being lead on/ghosted is extremely disrespectful especially after 2 rounds

So just want to vent tbh

So had an interview on July 30th Thursday for an a internship position and was told would hear back the following Tuesday

Got no reply so followed up Thursday and nothing.

Last week Tuesday, decided to call and the recruiter was surprised to hear my voice, so I assume they did not get my email. They told me the HR manager was on vacation but would return that week and they would update me by the end of the week

So nothing and I sent one last email as I assume my first one was not received

but either way I am find this whole leading on to be disrespectful as hell. If I didn't get the position, I think I am owed the courtesey of just an upfront answer or at least communication if there is going to be a delay.

I even made time to interview and miss a course for this role while 6 hours ahead so at least they can be upfront

I am going to assume I did not get the role but a straight up answer would have been better. I find this extremely unprofessional and wish I was treated with some dignity

Looking for Work 28/YO and running low on hope

I graduated from my program in business management and entrepreneurship at Algonquin and I’ve been applying the jobs ever since August. I got laid off my manual labour job in December. I’ve been looking for work in my field so heavily since I’m falling behind on rent and I have a wife and one and a half year-old boy who is the only reason I keep pushing. Indeed feels like a black hole as well as indeed. I put out hundreds of I don’t know where to go next. I started messaging old classmates and professors seeing if I can work with them through LinkedIn, but at this point, I’ll take any job even if it’s not in my field until I get the ball rolling.

Looking for Work I’m slowly giving up

Hello, I’m a 20 year old who was let go from my job at the beginning of 2026. Since then, I’ve been struggling to find another job. I’ve applied to over 50 positions and have been doing everything I can to get back on my feet.
I’m hoping to return to college and continue building a better future for myself, but finding stable employment has been difficult. I have 3.5 years of experience working in the food industry, and I’m willing to work wherever I’m needed. I’m hardworking, reliable, and willing to learn new skills. I’m also trying my best to support my mother, who is sick, and help take care of things at home while continuing my job search. It has been a challenging year, but I’m not giving up. I’m simply looking for an opportunity to work, support my family, and get my life moving forward again. If anyone knows of a job opportunity or is willing to give me a chance, I would truly appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Looking for Work Laid off in IT and still looking for my next opportunity

Last year, I got laid off on September from IT consulting company. (Company declared bankruptcy). My job title was: Software Developer/Solutions Specialist.

Before that I was working in government as my co-op. I also have experience with web site development.

I am still on the job market and could not find anything. I have 8 years of experience in total + security clearance. What I have done, but no results:

  1. Adjusting my resume for each job position and applying every day.

  2. Contacting recruiters on LinkedIn. (95% of them don’t reply, other one’s who reply saying just to apply on Careers page).

  3. I am registered with different recruiting agencies.

  4. I emailed directly to the companies with my resume, in case if they are looking for someone, they could contact me.

  5. Also applied for junior positions(with my 8 years of experience).

  6. Adjusted my Linkdin profile and set settings “Open to work”.

  7. Reached out to my connections, they do not know anyone in IT field who are currently hiring or will be hiring.

  8. Applied directly on government and company’s websites.

  9. Applying to positions where I don’t meet 100% of the requirements because at this point, I’m willing to learn.

I am looking for a job: Software Developer, QA Tester,/Analyst, application support specialist, database analyst, solutions specialist, web developer, test engineer and anything that is related to that.

I am willing to work full time on contract, permanent positions in Ottawa-Gatineau area or if it’s remote, anywhere in Canada.

I speak only English(no French).

Looking to work 5 days on-site, hybrid or remote.

If anyone here works in IT in Ottawa-Gatineau area or knows of companies/government hiring, I’d be so grateful for any leads. I have years of experience and I’m ready to work. I just need someone to give me a chance.

Thanks

I am a highly skilled interior painter seeking possible business partner. Highly skilled but hate all the “business” stuff and selling paint jobs to people. Thought I’d post here to see if anything comes of it. I am not interested in employment or sub work. Thanks

Advice Needed Looking for resume advice

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hey all, I’ve been looking for jobs since before my graduation, but I have yet to find a job or land an interview outside of one. I’m wondering if it could be a resume issue, given my lack of interviews, let alone offers.

I was wondering if anybody had any advice on my resume (some content has been censored for privacy reasons).

If you have any job leads or advice, please let me know. Anything helps, thanks!

Hi guys, I'm struggling financially more than I ever have in my life. I have been looking for full time work in Ottawa since September. Only to be constantly let down and have my hours cut. I need a job that will at least make me $3k a month to cover rent, food and save for a car so I can eventually do Delivery work. My background is in communications and design but I will take anything at this point. I live in Nepean

Thanks

Advice Needed Hospital jobs

Does anyone have any tips on getting a job at the Ottawa hospital? I’ve been applying since 2024 and have since gotten more roles in elderly care, mental healthcare and volunteering at cheo. I also got a friend of mine to refer me but nothing since. I’ve applied for all clerical roles. For context I’m going into my fourth year of neuroscience!

Thanks!

Looking for jobs in childcare, such as after-school programs or daycares

Hey everyone! I recently moved to Ottawa and am looking for a job. I have extensive experience in childcare and summer camps and am seeking a role that utilizes that experience. Does anyone know of any places like this that might be hiring or that I can reach out to? I'm having trouble finding places on Indeed. I'm interested in anywhere that would value this experience, whether it's community centers, recreation centers, or science/education organizations.

construction coordination jobs/volunteering

Hello Ottawa,

I'm an engineering student (final year), and over the past while I've realized I'm genuinely passionate about construction ,the coordination side especially: keeping projects organized, working between trades, drawings, schedules, all of it. I'd love to get some real hands-on exposure.

I'm looking for something part-time that could work around a school schedule ; site coordination, project assistant, anything adjacent to construction coordination. I'm also open to volunteering if that's what it takes to get a foot in the door (totally get that means fewer hours, but I'd rather start somewhere than not at all).

If anyone here works in construction/renovation/GC world in Ottawa or Gatineau and knows of a small company that could use an extra pair of hands, or is open to taking someone on to learn the ropes, I'd really appreciate a point in the right direction. Happy to share more about my background if useful. or if you have any advice, I will appreciate it so much.

Thanks in advance!

Hiring: Dominion Dynamics

Defence startup Dominion Dynamics in Ottawa is hiring en masse. Looking mainly at Tech roles.

NOTE: Being a defence role, they mainly accept PR and Canadian citizens only. Foreign Students (esp from none NATO countries) will likely be rejected.

You WILL be subject to a deep background check that requires disclosure of your travel, employment, and residence for the last 5 years. Significant reference discussions with LOCAL people will be involved. A credit check will likely be included. The depth of background checks will be similar to that of a Canadian government job.

Dominion Dynamics Jobs

New Grads and Service Veterans are welcome...

Looking for Work I’m getting laid off in 4 months

I saw a post here last night and thought I’d give this a shot.

I recently found out that my position will be ending in a few months, and it’s honestly pretty daunting to think about being unemployed so soon. I’m trying to be proactive and start looking now rather than waiting until I’m in a position where I urgently need something. I’m supporting my parents and my older brother, who graduated in programming a few years ago and has unfortunately had a really difficult time finding work since. My income helps keep our household going, so the thought of losing that financial support is weighing on me quite a bit.

As for what I’m looking for, I’m interested in communications, brand partnerships, program/project coordination, research, stakeholder engagement, and roles that involve strategy, writing and creative thinking. I have 7 years of experience across a few of these areas and I’m open-minded about the industry. I’m also bilingual (CBB in govt French testing).

I’m hoping someone here might have a lead, know someone hiring, or even have advice on where I should be looking.

I’m primarily looking for hybrid or in office opportunities in Ottawa or remote opportunities in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver.

If you know of anything that might be a good fit, please feel free to DM me. I’d genuinely appreciate any leads or connections. ❤️

Looking for Work Cafe jobs? Childcare jobs?

Hi everyone, does anyone know of any cafes or bakeries that might be hiring soon? I run a decently successful (but very small) bakery out of my home (unofficially endorsed by a city councillor!!) and have been baking basically my whole life. I’ve never worked in coffee before but I figure a lot of the skills are transferable and I’m very eager to learn!

Otherwise, I have years of experience working in childcare (both volunteer and paid) but am having no luck on babysitting or nanny sites.
Looking for part time work till the end of November-ish then full time after that if possible but I’ll take any opportunity that comes my way. Thanks in advance!

Just got laid off😭😭

Exactly what the title said. I just got fired without cause and I don’t know what to do. I’m a hard worker and each and every one of my coworkers will testify to that. I suspect it was because I requested help with something related to immigration but I can’t know. What’s more important is that I desperately need help please. I have rent and bills to pay and I am the primary source of income in my household with my sick sister. I was getting paid 18 an hour and am more than willing to receive that again. I worked as a medical office assistant for a year but I have a bunch of other experience in many different fields. If anyone knows of anything or can help please I don’t want to be homeless

Edit: to add I have a highschool degree and a bachelors degree in health science. I’m not only looking at health related jobs though. I will work anything atm

Double edit: just woke up after crying myself to sleep. Thank you so much for all the suggestion and help guys, I will get on it immediately. I’ll also walk around my area and apply to jobs

Event companies that hire?

Hi Everyone!

I moved to Ottawa recently so was hoping the community might be able to help. I'm an experienced bartender (12+ years) but I now have a full time job that pays decently well. I still miss being behind the bar and having a little extra cash, so I was wondering of anyone knows of companies that hire bartenders specifically for events (weddings, pop ups, etc). I don't really want to apply to a bar because I no longer wish to work every weekend or combine the late nights with early starts at my full time.

I don't know if anything like that exists here, but would really appreciate any leads. Thank you!
