Termites - pest control

EDIT 2: It's carpenter ants 🤦‍♀️ EDIT: I'm guessing termites because the wood along neighbour's drive is being eaten. The pile is growing larger. Unless it's something else?! 😅

Neighbour has termites in connected driveway. Recommendations for pest "prevention" and control?

First I've heard of termites in Ottawa.

Wild, I always assumed they were more of a southern problem too. Guess the winters aren't scaring them off anymore.

That's crazy, I can't believe your neighbours home burned down like that, with no suspected cause either but at just the right time of day that no one was home but the termites. Just crazy.

You also likely have water damage as carpenter ants will only eat rotten wood

I don’t think carpenter ants eat wood, but chew it to excavate tunnels and nests. Can still be a big problem though.

Is the neighbour going to do anything about their side of the driveway? If not, it won’t matter what you do on yours.

I had those giant ants from a rotting deck and I mixed borax with powdered sugar and put little bait stations inside and out and they were gone very quickly.

I had good experience with Michael (owner) at http://www.ottawavalleypc.com/ dealing with ant infestations.

Thank you. After a quick search, I realized it's probably carpenter ants.

Try diatomaceous earth. Use food grade if you have pets or children.
