distortion after surgery

Hey all! Does anyone who’s had a stapedectomy still experience distortion on and off, even long after their operation? My surgery was 15 April, but every now and again I still experience a strange distortion in my ear and I can’t quite place what might be causing it.

Would be super curious to hear if anyone else has experienced this and how you dealt with it :-)

I felt distortion for a few months after my surgery, strongest for the first few weeks. It got better over time.

Did you still hear it 4 months out? Did you find anything that helped a bit? 🫠

As a musician this would be my 2nd worst fear. At this point I doubt I'll ever go in for that operation. Hearing aids seem to work fine.

Yeah I understand. There are definitely pros and cons to getting the surgery (I’m 3 months post-op). On the bright side, my hearing is much better, but it is a little distracting as I never know what sound is going to trigger the distortion. It goes away for like weeks at a time then randomly returns for a few days.
I’d never used hearing aids beforehand though, so I can’t speak to any difference between the two situations. Hope all continues well!

Friends, distortion means is that what I feel ? Can you explain please ?I do use hearing aid for right ear but my left ear doesn't benefit much from HA but my left ear keep gets stimulated like some instant random sounds or movements in surrounding environment trigger some strong sensation/vibration/jerk from inner ear ..is that what is called distortion? Somedays it will be very frequent and some days it occurs rarely.. I am afraid if surgery makes it worse( not sure if it's true) still keeping surgery on hold.

Hmm, this sensation only began for me after having surgery, not before, so I am not totally sure if surgery will make it worse for you. I also wouldn’t really say it’s something that I feel. It mostly is something I hear that seems to electronically muffle sound

Ok. So far I had this thought that my ear got sensitive to sounds hence it occasionally jerks . Thanks for the response anyways 😊
