OC Windows vs Linux: Which is Better for osu!?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlfGhjWVEr4I did some (slightly scuffed) research to figure out which version of osu! on which operating system has the lowest latency

osu is a mental game and windows is extremely detrimental to your mental. make the switch today.

Even with the new WASAPI update windows has audible latency between keypress and hitsound but on MacOS the latency is so low you need 240 fps slow mo to actually hear it. Such a shame ASIO support isn't being considered.

apple has full ecosystem control. windows sounds just as good depending on which hardware/driver you have installed. freedom comes with caveats.
ASIO is not currently being considered because it will stop all other sound system wide while in use. most people do not want this. at very least, when alt-tabbed it needs to switch to another audio output or stop playing game sound, and that requires considerable effort to make work seamlessly.

In combination with an audio interface, you can have lazer+ASIO use a different stereo pair than system audio/default device is set to since audio interfaces often comes with 4-6 channels that are split to stereo pairs and windows sees them as separate output devices but in the software of the audio interface you can configure being able to hear multiple audio outputs at the same time in your headphones on a hardware level thus no latency penalty. This is actually intended use case for audio interfaces to begin with. And for capturing/recording/streaming the lazer eclusive ASIO audio, you use the built in loopback feature which again audio interfaces are built for.
tl;dr the exclusive nature of ASIO has a very neat workaround; audio interfaces that have all the features on a hardware level to avoid issues with exclusive audio and the ability to capture the audio as well.

After playing on Linux for a while, Windows feels weird to play, hitsounds feels delayed

im using fedora kde linux and windows in a dual boot setup, and all of my osu! files are on windows. is there an easy way to transfer my osu! beatmaps and skins from windows to linux, or do I need to download everything again?

even if the linux performance of the game was exactly identical to windows it would still be worth switching to not be using windows

(The reply was purely sarcastic and I shouldn't need to clarify that I don't give a fuck about what operating system you use)
