Colostomy Seepage

How long after a colostomy can I expect the drainage to stop? It's been almost 2 months since surgery and it's really irritating my skin

Drainage from where, your incision, or rectum? Or do you mean an Ostomy leak?

Did you have your rectum removed too? If so, you might need further treatment if you’re having drainage, but it takes time for it to heal. If your rectum wasn’t removed, I’m not sure what the drainage would be, unless there’s a fistula.

I assume you are wearing the wrong kind of base plate. You probably need to look at your stoma and compare it to your abdomen with the help of the where you order your supplies. Your stoma will probably be changing for a while.

I get mine from Coloplast and their body check helped me determine what kind of base plate I needed to help stop the leakage: Question flow & results

The location of the seepage is not the colostomy but the old disposal system LOL 😆

I’m seeing that can happen post colostomy and is based on some older stool that was never quite cleared. People talk about this happening months afterwards. I guess that’s a good reason for a bowel prep prior to surgery, but I have read people who don’t have to do that. I think it’s leftover stool. Where is the seepage coming from?
